Blast from the past

Today I watched two oldies that rocked in the last century: Overboard (1987)and My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) (yes, on a tv station, I wouldn't really rent these kind of flicks... I'm that cheap, sue me). After an afternoon of sweating a lot trying to plant some of the Ășcares and playeras, just watching Goldie Hawn in all her glory and Julia Roberts with her infamous smile while drinking a smoothie was the right prescription.

Why is it that old movies have at least original, amusing storylines? That's just what I hate about our great visual era... The emphasis on making re-makes of any movie that they can think of, even if the original versions are relics that should be left untouched... Where is imagination? Where is creativity? Where is innovation? Same thing happens in the comics industry... I remember when I longed for great art but it was ok beause the stories made you imagine anything really vividly... Nowadays... Ugh! Stunning art emphasizing biceps and triceps but no story whatsoever, or a recycled story from an old plot that old people will notice but youngsters won't ever know as ripoffs... Progress... Right...

Hopefully will get to see Xmen tomorrow... No big expectations... Just to visit Magneto. :)
