Wedding, Honeymoon, Aftermath

Well, it’s been quite a while but yes, I am alive and kicking…. Sort of anyway… I was in a 2-week honeymoon, plus my laptop died on me upon returning home… Seems I am destined to be isolated from cyber-world, but it should not be a permanent break mind you… Missed blogging a-lot. There is no other way to best keep track of daily nuisances and mayor issues… Ok, so second to it is scrapbooking, but that’s about it.

Well… Let’s start the return with a briefing on the drama from days past…

THE WEDDDING DAY

Early in the morning, more likely around 9am, I realized I should go to the bank. Also, I realized that there was a minor item I had not bought… my tiara. So, by 11am I ventured out in search of a nearby bank and a quick tiara fix… By 12:30pm I arrived home even with a chicken that my aunt wanted… Only to find out that (yay!) Groundel and LadyDeath were there, LightShadow was there, Joe arrived soon enough… and there was no light! That was a bit annoying, but since creatures of the dark need little light to prepare themselves the tasks were completed… Of course, there was the drama of auntie screaming at me because I was not helping her get dressed… Um… Like… Hello? I thought I was the bride here? And the two-layered pearl necklace somehow broke as if Cinderella’s sisters had materialized at my side just in time for such a thing… leaving me with a single tier necklace… Whatever… I’ve never liked pearls, so big deal. Overall, my dress had elven sleeves, and the veil had 4 tiers so it looked pretty good. I died my hair raven black the night before, and the effect created a bride of Dracula feel. I thought it was quite lovely. The tiara turned out to complement the attire perfectly.

Waiting for Coriolis to arrive so he would take me to church, the neighbors had to be their nosy selves, and they murmured the obligatory Are you getting married? Gee… I don’t know… I just like prancing around barefeet on a wedding dress so I get a Corpse Bride thrill… Stupid questions by stupid people. Finally, Coriolis arrived just in time and so the quick trip to the church was completed.

Everything was ready… except for the Godmother and one Flowergirl who were missing in action. They arrived just as the priest was telling me that he had to begin. My father and my uncle took me to the altar. I had no idea of who was there because of my blurry vision and the veil. So basically it was a matter of walking along, and then just standing there with my groom… almost as if there was no audience and it was just the priest and both of us. Not bad at all.

The ceremony was quite easygoing and informal. The priest gets us, and had a nice way of delivering thoughts and emotions. I know I laughed a lot. All in all, it was pleasant and to the point. The mage was quite serious and well behaved… and looked quite handsome. His eyes were mesmerizing at all times… Then again, they always are.

Outside, greeting those who came to share the moment with us, I was quite surprised at the ones that did show up. Candy and Carmen and Lulú traveled from far to be there, but the biggest surprise was Gaby. I was really glad that he made it and quite honored to meet him at last. Some moments to recall: Barbara’s trying to wake up the Christ that seemed to be sleeping in the crystal coffin, Mandy’s brushing the priest’s tunic and almost picking up the blessing wand, Paco raiding the altar, my finally realizing the Ave Maria at the end, Groundel and Joe behaving inside the church, LightShadow and LadyDeath photo-tag team, my brother videotaping the ceremony (and his feet), my uncle looking clueless… Erm… Everyone looking clueless… The cake saga… Bubble-wands in the making, Barbie’s refusing to give almonds to Groundel…

We went home to change and wait for my father to call with the place they selected for gathering in Joyuda. I disliked that it was quite far, and that the mage’s family could not make it, but somehow we all played along… I finally got the call after six, and upon arriving to the place we found out that the rest of the crew had already eaten. That really upset me, because even if I know they were hungry so were we, and we were all supposed to eat together because we were to celebrate the wedding… I guess my father and the rest didn’t get that point well. I think it was disrespectful, especially the question about why the godfather and the photographer were with me… Erm… Duh? I wanted Groundel there, and my aunt, and the mage’s family, and my uncle and my closest friends and acquaintances… A reception is made for that but we could not afford one. And a gathering afterwards was to be in replacement of a reception… not as a single-sided family gathering of just siblings… I tried to breathe-in, breathe out. It took me more than half an hour to cool of, I tried to so my father would not feel bad… after all he had done much for me and for the wedding. It just got plain wrong. I should have sticked to the Longhorn plan so I could tell everyone to go there, across the street. The Joyuda imposition was a flop, and I hated it. I know we all felt really bad and left out… It was supposed to be an event for us primarily. But the idea sunk. Do lemonade with lemons? Whatever…

Traveled at night to Coriolis place at Caguas, so we could take the plane next day during the morning. Soon we were on our way to 11 days away from this crappy isle and its crappy dramas… Amen! Que sonido tan triste cuando se acaba…

THE HONEYMOON

Well, the Customs Agency kept many items from the mage’s hand baggage… Upon arriving to Florida it was quite a long wait to get to the car rental place, many people seemed to have the same idea… The way to the hotel was a bit longer due to a small deviation, but we went right on track on time. We had to upgrade the hotel room so we would have a fridge for my insulin… besides that everything went flawlessly. The tickets we ordered from TicketMania were there as they advertise, so it was a worry-free evening. It was quite exciting sorting out the next days in matters of what to do, when and how. So… We decided to go Disney the first 4 days (Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, MGM Studios), then a break, Sea World, Universal, Ripley & Medieval Times, and finish up with Disney again.

Memorable moments:
“Mommy, why she married Mickey?”, a girl at Animal Kingdom
“My most sincere condolences”, the keeper at Haunted Mansion
Lane 40… Where the bus would arrive to pick us up at night… A ghost bus it seemed, as it was always an invisible vessel and the guy on lane 34 ended up hailing us so we would go with him…
Stingray petting at Sea World
Cirque de Soleil’s “La Nouba”. Breathtaking. Amazing. The best attraction/event of the whole honeymoon
Illuminations and Wishes… I’m a sucker for fireworks. Although I still think Illuminations is the best show. Fantasmic was a bit disappointing… has room for improvement
Standing in front of Everest… being really really REALLY pissed about it
Morocco strikes back, this time with a lovely expensive menu from Hell…
Nothing like an eggroll to fix the day
Anyone up for I-Hop? Don’t forget the strawberries… and its syrup…
Waffle House. Never ask for a ham and cheese sandwich. They will look at you as if you were from another planet because, heck, no one asks for that in there! No matter if the sandwich is in the menu list…
Shrunken heads at Ripley’s
Shamu… Calling almighty Shamu with a stupid tribal sign, and then calling with a war roar that would be difficult to hear under water
Loved the manatees at Sea World
Finally finding a place to eat healthy at Magic Kingdom…
The Festival of the Lion King rocked!
Finally finding the Minnie veil and Mickey top hat at MGM
Getting freebies at MGM… Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Oh, the 20% discount given by a lovely girl at Universal, completely surpassing Disney in matters of celebrating newlyweds
The food at Medieval Times. Chicken! Good!
Getting healthy snacks at Publix for half the price that we pay in our lovely island
NOW HIRING everywhere! Casting right now at Disney, too…
Veggie Burger… Two slices of bread and veggieburger… no lettuce, no tomato, no onion, no nothing… Plain vanilla, and for a higher price…
Once again ditched Beetlejuice, but got a date with ET
Star Wars reminiscing

Back into the plane, back into the heat and the Caribbean beat… and the cursing, and the traffic, and the un-politeness… Coriolis went to pick us up at the airport, took us to lovely Catalina mall where the Mesón has no potatoes… And after a small chatting session we finally picked up Ravy and went home to the land of the lost… We had to stay at auntie’s place since the basics at the house are not finished… Light guy has not gone to finish up, and cistern guy has not gone either… Ugh!

THE AFTERMATH

During the weekend we thanked LightShadow and her lovely assistant Groundel for taking care of my 8 children while I was gone… More than care, loving care. So refreshing to actually have responsible people doing what they said they would… Yay! Now the kitties keep looking at the window, waiting for LS… Sheesh!
The mage started work yesterday, I started today. Missed the nutritionist appointment today but got a new one so no harm done. My sugar is somehow behaving too nicely, amazingly… The laptop will go to its funeral to San Juan, so I will be stuck with working hours lunchtime to do some general stuff on the net… Whatever.

Groundel will have his skin wrap on Thursday. Wishing him success! It is an ambulatory operation, and if he takes care will not be of intensive care. I’m glad that will be done soon enough. I worry too much, but hey, it is my job…

So… Busy days that run as fast as water in the Niagara falls… And still, much more to come… Next, on Geraldo!
