Rented Pulp Fiction and In Her Shoes. Thoughts about them...
Pulp Fiction: I confess. I have never seen this movie before, although is is a cult movie. Sorry, by the time it came out I didn't REALLY went to the theater (unless it was Muppets stuff) and untill now it just appeared as any other movie in the rack. Well... I see the fuzz with Tarantino's style... Kill Bill was just like his Pulp Fiction in screenplay, cuts and even sreen words & chapters. Anyway... Found the movie ok, not so great, too slow for my taste, too filled with drugs for my taste... But watching all the stars when they were younger made it all worth the two-buck rental. I still dislike Bruce Willis, he has never ever acted anywhere...
In Her Shoes: Realy liked this movie. Cameron Diaz doing the cool gal she almost always delivers in movies... but who cares as long as you see her smiling (her only sexy feature if you ask me). The drama unfolds smoothly with the shoe-fetish details. Loved that. I can relate to Shirley Macklein's character in every sense. Always feeling lost in the background, un-loved, un-pretty, un-fit, un-liked... the childhood from Hell with family always teasing about how fat I was, the friends doing the same, and as adulthood was reached getting splatted all over the car's window like a bug when it comes to face what I am and realize it will never at all be what people wants. Reaching that magical moment of acceptance and understanding your own worth is one sublime thing... only compared to strawberry cheesecake...
Today got a call directly from the sewers of the Twilight Zone. Trilogy, after 3 months of complete absence, made his day by giving what he called a "friendship call". Amazing how unbelievable this guy can be. And as usual he asked how I was and then hanged up, his duty of making sure I still breathed flawlessly completed. So, he should call by October to follow up... He calls THAT deep concern and follow-up friendship. It makes me sad for him, as this is probably what his "friends" have shown him in his life. The lessons I taught him were never of his interest, so he cannot really know the difference... Whatever.
Lucinda was to take her boy to Ponce today. Didn't tag along since it was my last day of vacations (if they can be called that way...) and wanted to simply rest. Woke up at midday, went to water my so-called "garden", rented the flicks, got the last pizza of the quincena and went home to enjoy kitties and movies.
Tomorrow, back to the office... which I haven't missed... back to the corner in my world that I hate so much because I need it... No work, no cash, no paying... But is life ONLY about paying? Why can't there be some enjoyment at all? Why can't there EVER be a breeze through my desertic life? Back to the cage... Until next sickness...
Coriolis... Glad you are finding out about your real self... Seems to me you completely blocked out your real entity in order to live in the Inferno. You were beautiful, my friend. Keep it up, I hope to see you in all your glory again before I die. :)
Groundel... You know what I'm gonna say, so I won't repeat it. Stop reading and do it, damnit!
Hoping one day my Lotto break will come true... Tuning out.

El Calvo is alive, ALIVE!
After quite a few months without being able to visit or find El Calvo at his home in Neverland, finally found him yesterday's night. How is the guy? Well, seems that the DaVinci Code has made some things in his life. He has always been a historian and a theologyst with much expertise on many, many themes... He began a few years ago studying towards a M.A. in Theology, but didn't kept on taking courses. After the movie, he's become his old bookwork finding the true tales behind the fiction... What a voyage! Now he's playing with the idea of getting a MA in History instead. Cool. Did you know that Mary Magdalene was NOT a prostitute? That was a mis-interpretation made by a Bible translation on the 3rd Century... Interesting stuff.
Finally made it to see X-men III. Angry about Magneto (who would never leave Mistique the way he did), angry about Wolverine (who is not as savage and stubborn as he should be), angry about Storm (who even Magneto considers a goddess in the comics and whose powers are depicted at a minimum), angry about Xavier's death ( WTF?WTF?WTF? again WTF?) and definitively angry about Phoenix (or should I say "lack of Phoenix" since she never introduces herself as such, and she doesn't even have the firebird aura around her). It's always about the lovestory Scott-Jean-Wolverine... and it sucked so much... The only scene I definitively enjoyed was Scott's death (I really HATE that guy!). I guess that after reading the script Patrick Steward begged to make this his last movie, since they are detouring so much from the storylines of the comics... I think that yes, there is freedom of creation or interpretation... but this is the Xmen, and they have been for years even before I was born... And they kept an audience because they have quite some intrinate plots within plots. I don't see why Marvel endorsed this movie... Ok, that is angry me speaking...beause I know... Consumerism... Giving mutants to the new generation who doesn't know what that is and is not into actually reading about it... All for making money. It doesnt matter that you let down all those followers that for more than 25 years have loyally followed the lives of KittyPride, Colossus, Storm, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, MarvelGirl (the way Jean Grey should have been named in the 3 movies... then Dark Phoenix... then Phoenix DAMNIT!)... The spotlight on all other mutants that in reality came into the stories after Generation X was a very, very bad idea. Let's see how DC Comics delivers GhostRider and IronMan before I start praising them... they stick to at least more than 50% of the stories, while Marvel allowed for a complete X-men overhaul! Why they didn't followed Spiderman's example? The world may never know...
Hunt for sandals finished. Not too happy but, whatever. Today got the things for the kitties... So tomorrow I shall change their litterboxes and spot-clean their room. Gotta love them...

Blast from the past

Today I watched two oldies that rocked in the last century: Overboard (1987)and My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) (yes, on a tv station, I wouldn't really rent these kind of flicks... I'm that cheap, sue me). After an afternoon of sweating a lot trying to plant some of the úcares and playeras, just watching Goldie Hawn in all her glory and Julia Roberts with her infamous smile while drinking a smoothie was the right prescription.

Why is it that old movies have at least original, amusing storylines? That's just what I hate about our great visual era... The emphasis on making re-makes of any movie that they can think of, even if the original versions are relics that should be left untouched... Where is imagination? Where is creativity? Where is innovation? Same thing happens in the comics industry... I remember when I longed for great art but it was ok beause the stories made you imagine anything really vividly... Nowadays... Ugh! Stunning art emphasizing biceps and triceps but no story whatsoever, or a recycled story from an old plot that old people will notice but youngsters won't ever know as ripoffs... Progress... Right...
Hopefully will get to see Xmen tomorrow... No big expectations... Just to visit Magneto. :)

Lazy, Breezy, Beautiful me...
Well, woke up at midday, just in time for my supper...ermm... midday breakfast? Thinking of visiting government offices to make my uncle happy, when Groundel's call happenned. Got him, just after ripping off the newspaper part in which cinemas display their movie times. My intention was to actually go watch Xmen3, but then a big but happenned... a longaleer wait line which I was not gonna get into. Sooo...
Took Groundel to the hospital (so he would deal with the payment of the Cellulitis Incident which should be covered by the med card that his college provided). Then tried getting information on mortages and how to do a double mortage but I won't even go there... Next went to CRIM so they would send me to ARPE, who in turn told me to get a number from AAA or AEE so they can try finding a file that was probably destroyed beause it was more than 10 years old. Sooo... Frustrated and angry as the white female I am, went to try getting the right movie that would let me vent off the fact that every route to solve financial distress is off and I will have to simply deal with it even for a longer period... Whatever.
Rented 4 movies: NannyMcPhee,Marebito, American Gothic and Memoirs of a Geisha. Watched two today, the others will be for tomorrow's delight.
Nanny McPhee: Whoever says or thinks that this movie is the new Mary Poppins is in desperate need of attention or simply wants to be strapped down and sent to Mepsi. Hello! I am deeply sorry people... Yes, this is a cute movie about misbehaved children (another movie of brats) being restrained and taught the proper ways in life (yet again)... Thank God I didn't saw it at the movies... Ok to pass the time at home, but it lacks the soul that dear Julie Andrews has. There can be no other Julie Andrews as she is a living inmortal! Mary Poppins has no equal because it is timeless and brings the innocence out of adults as well as children... Nanny McPhee may be a children's movie (it certainly has the colors and simple drama for that matter) but Mary Poppins is for all ages, teaching lessons that trascends cultures, backgrounds, and time.
Marebito: Unhhhh! I repeat: Unhhhh! Ok, so it may have been a nice horror plot... If one actually got scared of what the screen shows... A guy that stops taking his Prozac and who is obsessed with witnessing the terrors that suicides or crime victims witness at their deaths. Somewhere in the movie, while getting lost within the Tokyo underground, he meets and talks with people who are suppossed to be dead, and he finally finds some sort of ruins with a naked girl chained up in a crevice. He takes the girl to his techno-rat/video freak apartment, she behaves as a pet who wont eat or drink anything... Until he has an acident in which a guy gets pissed because he was filming him and the guy takes his video camera and beats him up with it. The techno-rat/video psycho gets cut in the hand, goes home, and suddenly the girl ends up sucking his finger... so he discovers that the food the girl needs is blood. From that point on the film is about the guy filming everyone (even if that means getting his ass kicked by strangers), killing who turned out to be a wife he had, killing a girl to get food...ermm, blood... to his pet-girl... his search for feeling terror, his pathethic life... yadda yadda. In the end the guy cuts his mouth so the girl will drink him up (and so the movie gets an erotic incestlike scene since the bloodthirsty girl turns out to actually be his daughter), and then takes him to the underwold so he faces terror and then they live happily ever after. And why I bothered to tell you the plot, climax and conlusion (yes they are all in here)? So you don't even bother to pick it up. Where's the horror? The suspense? The drama? The icing of the cake? The emeral on the snake eye? Yup, that bad it was.
Next!
LS dropped by to watch the Nanny movie with us. The late supper/dinner was great! I have this bacalao antojo that doesn't get away! Well, in other news, yesterday got a all from the church at Hormigueros asking about my getting married on the 28th... this month... Ermmm... No, you haven't misread anything. I just forgot that almost a year and a half ago I separated that date... And it is a definitively no-no as it is next Sunday! Groundel needs to finish off school first (so he doesn't loose the scholarship aid) and to have a job (drip, drip, drip) so we can atually set a date for that matter... Maybe December next year, if he achieves his goals... Let's see how that turns out.
The Sims2 is definite eye candy, but the Sims1 is definite fun. Old and original is better than modern but predictable. Hmmm, Coriolis, take that advice! ;P
Gotta go deliver the orc.

Twidleydoom or Twidleydee
LOL Whatever. Alice in Wonderland rocks.
Anyway... On Monday was decoration afternoon in the church/stage of the kindergarten thinguie. I lived to witness Silvia getting pissed (incredible as she is a peace & harmony person), as a member of the parents staff said a stupid comment about "balloons being made only for birthdays". Since I know how people comment on things (too many years of experience witnessing the same crap) I simply ignored her stupidity... but since Silvia has been putting up with miss big-mouth-but-do-nothing mom since August, she exploded on her face. Yay! It was delightful watching the action... Well, now I'm officially free of that kind of work... Now to try doing something about my house...
Today at wee hours in the morning I got the inspiration to go back to my redness... vampire redness mind you. The strawberry blonde was too blah and normal for me, I was feeling too mundane (I kept that normal shade while I completed the kinder thing so I would not scare the christian locals, after all they were gonna pay me!). Guess I was born for either this one, Flaming or the Wildfire... Feeling happy about it.
During the afternoon went with Groundel to my house. Finally took my old hammock over there, and it is just plain comfy in the second floor's balcony. I can imagine it should be grrrrreat at night... Anyway, while I watered my almost dried Uvas Playeras, Groundel painted the arches on the 1st floor with primer. I skipped and stepped to count the floor's feet so I get the right amount that I need for tiling... Hopefully will get all the tiles between Jun & Jul. I saw the perfect design at Nationals, a stoney-cream-terracotta design. That should be perfect for the castle theme I want to create. Will go with terracota instead of greys since the greys do not complement well caoba wood. And I do intend to fill my house with caoba antiques... little by little. It is another fetish of mine...
Spiders at Hormigueros are big and flat... They scare off easily, but still... Spiders are spiders, and I just hate them. Need to put some bombs or hire a professional so those pests are very muh exterminated within the house... I hate spiders and roaches. They create in me the kind of panic attack that leaves you very still, sweating and numb and screaming or mute... Good thing about being a cat owner is that encounters with these bichitos are very few... Gotta love and pamper my cats!
Heat is unbelievable. Where's rain when you need it? Talking about rain... Just saw some ads for the BloodRayne movie... It won't be released on theaters, going straight to dvd... Gee... So much for waiting for it... I guess that it is a cult movie after all, and seemed the action would be sucky. Won't comment further until I actually get to see it.
Two more days until Xmen is delivered... Gosh! This waiting is killing me! Hope the God loves man kills vs Phoenix saga mix is well put... Hate Storm's haircut... But as always, gotta LOVE papi Magneto!
Wednesday promises to be an imteresting day, as Raven asked Groundel and me to join her in a Ponce endeavour... If she thinks we know the way, things can get complicated... LOL But I always have a map, and I know how to read it. :P

DaVinci Code
Well, since it was a hot afternoon, decided to kill it off with the Da Vinci Code. Liked it, from the middle on it was predictable but it is a good Clue game. Hated that at the last minute there was a light failure so the cinema made the public miss the last shot of the Magdalena place... Lights came back, and it was watch the credits and go. Lame, lame, lame... At least a miracle hapenned and FINALLY the cinema changed (you can faint now) the intro. It sucks badly as it is not creative at all, but at least the Otra Galaxia thing is gone. Yay! Will try to actually read the book maybe next week, to see the good the bad and the sucky details hit and missed by the movie. It was definitively something else than what I expected.
I don't get how come in the new century they still make church protests about religious themes. Sorry but creativity and fiction is simply that, and if it were true it would be even better, as Jesus fought all the time in favor of women's rights. He was the first feminist, mind you! The idea of him being married and having a family should not conflict at all with the beliefs on his doctrine of Love, because after all he was sent by God to pass what humans pass. It's the female being so important thing, old school catholics still cannot dig it... And I say priestesses would be more useful than priests because after all God has no gender, and the bread in the Communion is what becomes Christ... Whatever. Men still have the power thing in powerful places... Hope to live to see the day the choose a femme Pope... Actually it would be easier to see a black male Pope... And we all know that with the racist core in high places THAT is not going to happen anytime soon...
Oh, it's not picking on catholics... I am one. But it is true that the Church has been made with a bloody core, all in the name of God. Truth cannot be deleted. It has been shameful the ways the "black sheep" advanced within velvet robes and iron fists...
The Omen remake, on 6-6-06... Right in tune with the profecies of Lourdes and of Nostradamus. Cool scary stuff, since after all... It could be true... Buahahahah
Now, let's seat back and wait for the Xmen delivery next week... That Gandalf-Magneto guy is really cooking... You gotta love him in the Davinci Code. He has selected many outstanding roles to bear under his belt. I love that guy as much as the guy that brings life to young Ben Kenobi.
Nothing else in this hot odd corner of the island...

Beached Whales

Latest events:
Thursday: During the day we wandered the local mall in search of a/c as the heat here is becoming unbelievable… Lucinda met with us and so we roamed different stores. I rediscovered my favorite store, which I had not visited since Jan. Also tried to find some shoes or sandals, but that quest is almost impossible to complete for me… the curse of being sz 11-12 on shoes… Went home to dig in a nice dinner made by auntie. Then, to Lucinda’s at night. Watched Scorpion King while the kids finished their studying & eating bananas. Groundel finally did some of his humongous laundry.
Friday: Auntie’s thinguies in the morning, then to Caña Gorda with Lucinda and the gang during the afternoon. It was fun, I didn’t get burn in the sun, there were people from Italy, India and USA, and it didn’t rain. The place is still neat, with lifeguards and the basics covered (bath, shower, even a cafeteria). Love the mix of nature and basics. Groundel played with the kids, Lucinda got almost an hour of peace and silence, and we even saw a dead mouse. Trees and birds roamed the place, you could listen to the birds conversations on the road to the beach. Seems the Dry Forest Reserve is doing its job well. Even cactuses looked big and healthy. The druid is very satisfied. Yay!
Plans for the next days:
Saturday: First I need to change some car parts so I get the ones I need, so the morning will be busy. I foresee I will try hunting for primer so I can do the living room’s walls on my house. Also, need some cement and some blocks to build some sort of small wall for the front garden. Next week’s weekend is the right moon to plant, so gotta have the place ready. I may do some of this tomorrow, if the weather (and energy levels) allows it. If not, then I guess it will be a matter of hanging a hammock and drink a very cold smoothie. On Sunday: Will try to do something different. Gotta think hard to actually achieve that goal. On Monday: Gotta do the actual decoration at the school, so it’s gonna be a loooong day. Maybe will watch the DaVinci Code. On Tuesday: Gotta find uncle to get tatara’s stuff to my house. Sometime during this next week: Gotta reconnect with Nature before the 29th, when I will have to leave Ravy in hands of the mechanic.
We’ll see how it all unfolds

Ombligo de la semana
Well, painting should be over in matters of kindergarten graduation. I have to be at the school the day before the event to make sure they decorate properly. That should be next 22. After that, free of any project besides my owns. Yay!
Laundry seems a pain in the butt these days. Now Groundel has no place to do his laundry because the place closed... Insane! Its the second one that closes, the dark cloud reached them it seems... Me, I have been doing the laundry the whole day since I had clothing accumulated for 3-4 weeks... Another insanity... I should be done tomorrow if I am diligent.
Love the * thing, it is great to keep conversations running smoothly ;P
Saw Mission Impossible 3 yesterday. I expected the same, and it actually entertained/surprised me. The action is good, the eye candy and acting is ok, the story is not so bad... A good choice if you are really bored and need an A/C set at high fast! Yes, almost at heatstroke levels... this summer is pura candela!
Lucinda getting kids ready for the finals. She was wathing Aeon Flux tonight... To think I actually had to see that movie at the theater makes me sick... What a waste of time and money! Anyway... Kids on finals and laundry as well... Guess Wednesday is the "gotta clean everything" time of the week, or something...
Coriolis enjoying a warp speed time-traveling to the good old years thanks to his car. There, you see? Christine aint so bad at all. Thanks to her you got in contact with your roots... Little grasshoper, rediscover your talents and rule the world! Buahahahahahah!
NoName has been lurking in the shadows. Seems he had a change of life that is making a difference. I am really glad for him. He is one of those special entities that really deserves the best.
And this is life in the Twilight Zone during the low ratings season...

Antiques and cars
Started my vacations today. Wheee o algo.
Good news: I’ll be outside the stupid work environment for 15 days
Bad news: No money, no fun, nowhere to go. I thought I would do all my car’s fix-ups but it needs to stay for 4 days at the mechanics place, so he did the basics and I will have to be gentle with Ravy until I can leave it over there on the 29th. Nothing more to do about it, my whole paycheck went down the drain… Will repeat the story on the 30th. So… the day went by, by mid-afternoon had a big headache and took a nap. Woke up just to write here, feel special people.
Spent the weekend painting some more for the kinder graduation. I hope to finish it all off tomorrow so the kids can actually rehearse for the big event on the 23rd. By Wednesday I hope I can go to the house and take most plants over there.
My aunt told me granny wants to throw away some old caoba beds that belonged to my tataras, and I plan to take them home as well… I have to quench my antique’s thirst somehow. That will be just great for the castle thing I want to do. Finally, furniture! Who knew? Hopefully will be able to design SOMETHING out of the trash over here and over granny’s… Need an emergency shelter in case I can stand no more the fights and the hostile ambience…
Over & out.

Todays Blow Job
I am so pissed that perhaps there are no words to describe it. Indignation is perhaps what comes up as appropriate. Everyone hates when a good tale goes wrong, and although signals did hint on some things it just baffles me how things can change so much out of lack of vision and stupidity. Yes, MrPopu, this one’s for you.
You know, yes it is not of my business, but I cannot stand aside and be quiet about it. Man, be blunt and be yourself, but of all the people I didn’t expect you to be so stupid and irrational. You always brag about so much wits you have, about your open mindedness, about how you would do ANYTHING for the right person… You actually GET the right person out of sheer chance, and then WHAM! You kick that person out without any contemplation as easy as passing the sugar… Going back to so many lectures that YOU gave ME about distance and stuff, makes me see just how low you can go if there are no real motives for making a decision… and how you only based everything on being physical. It saddens me greatly the whole situation, and in this one I canNOT stand supporting you because of what you showed through all the time you were with her. I didn’t see breathtaking love, but a comfort zone that sometimes deserved a WTF? I saw her doing everything in her hands to see you and make you happy. You would say you’ll meet her then stay up all night and not meeting her at all the next day because you were not feeling well, or were tired, or were sick… Well… You kinda made that situation happen… and so she had to deal with it... without complaining… too many times… But you cannot deal with her stuff? Knowing she doesn’t hop around having a good time as you do? Because don’t give me crap, you go places and have fun while she studies and work… I didn’t see you giving her much support. It was all about YOU. Her supporting you. Her making you feel special. Her multiplying her time to make a stunt and see you. Her trying her best to make you happy…
You say much about others, criticize others, but you seem not to really look at yourself in the mirror. What have you done with your life all these years? Besides fun. Besides joda. Besides attempts to work while making fun your priority. Nothing too serious about it if you point out the things that really matter. So much talent (I still believe you are a genius), so much knowledge, so many skills… And still wasting it all just because you can. You should count your blessings, and be happy and actually strive to change the money/job thing… You sell me SJ as a fucking land of opportunity, but YOU still don’t have the job in which you can say you are happy… So much for being in Area Metro. You know the vanity of life over there, and you disdain it and judge it… but somehow you have assimilated it in your own life as well. Many things brings out character in a person, and in that I thought you excelled… until today. I stand for her on this one because I believed in you and everything you stood for, and somehow it all feels empty right now.
I feel as if I entered the Twilight Zone, or as if this has been a prank of sorts… You know I am not a double-face, and I can be as brutally honest as you. And darling, this is NOT an opinion, as well as this is NOT me pushing my shit in your face. You screwed up big time for the wrong reasons, hurting someone that deserved much more than that. It’s that simple. I feel outraged that you are so cool and casual about it. Makes me want to show up over there and shove tapes (if I had them) with things YOU have REALLY said up your ass. I am passionate towards my beliefs on the people I care lots about. You are one of them. But LS is too, and it all makes you the REAL bad guy after all. Grow up, little boy. You will be 40 next week. Playing the university renegade doesn't suit your style.
It is NOT about insulting you. It is NOT about taking things out on you. It is NOT about being bitchy. Angry-vindictive one, others can be and do and say as thoughtlessly as you do. If you don’t care, we don’t care. It’s plain vanilla.
I was actually happy and content today. I started my vacations yesterday at 4:30pm. I was painting murals today. I was being fed a nice NewYorker overloaded with pepperoni. I will get paid for this job as well… I got my car’s auto parts… I had plans to visit Lucinda and watch a movie and eat some cheesecake and cielito lindo… I got allergy medicine for free… Had no struggles with Groundel… It was a good day... Until I read everything I read when I arrived home. Mad, hell yeah! Disgusted? Hell yeah! Outraged? Hell yeah! Biased? Hell yeah!

Grrrrls just wanna have fun
I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun
The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells what you gonna do with your life
Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one
But girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have
That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls - they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun
Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have
That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls - they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun,
They want to have fun,
They want to have fun...
-Cindy Lauper, Girls just want to have fun
To my fav girls: Lucinda, Kara, and the one and only diva Popu

It took four wise men to get conclusions and answers in order to solve a crisis, more than 40 legislators couldn’t do that in 2 weeks after Hour0, or before. It is all an interesting drama. If legislators are to do their job they must know what they are doing, and that rule that let a high school graduate be a legislator is really stray. The minimum in order to be in a charge of a country should be a Masters degree going for a Doctorate. Why? Brains are needed in those jobs, people that actually use their brain muscles and talk without hurting each other and solve anything. Now we have to see what cancer Rosello has to say or do today, since he is in a vendetta to punish everyone for not electing him governor in 2004. The guy is that insane.
Besides politics, I guess that everything else will fall in place. Commerce was badly damaged by these last two weeks, but people have still 3 more days to shop before Sunday (if anyone out there is clueless, Sunday is Mother’s Day). So I foresee havoc at the superstores at the last minutes…
Yesterday updated the server at Aguadilla. It all ran smoothly. I expect to get rid off all the little things left over my table… Tomorrow at 4:30pm I’ll be officially on vacation. Hopefully I’ll get to take care of my car and to do some planting and cleanup at the house. Maybe will pass by a certain b-day bash if I get quorum for that, let’s see how this weekend unfolds.
Today is Groundel’s last final… Yay!
Finishing painting the Nemo fishes, a couple of Dora and Lion King still in process but by Sat it all should be done in terms of characters. Gotta go do some bubbles in the sea, and create the forest. And the tree that goes in the middle. And man and woman. This whole project must be finished on Sat, I don’t intend to go on spending all free days on it. I don’t even know if I will actually get paid. I will do anything for food, but a little cash helps too.
‘Life’s like a movie,
Make your own ending.
Keep believing,
Keep pretending.
And then your dreams will come true
With the lovers,
The dreamers,
And you!”

Stormy weather and sinking ships
I was justified when I was five
Raising cane, I spit in your eye
Times are changing, now the poor get fat
But the fever's gonna catch you when the bitch gets back
Eat meat on Friday that's alright
Even like steak on a Saturday night
I can bitch the best at your social do's
I get high in the evening sniffing pots of glue
I'm a bitch, I'm a bitch
Oh the bitch is back
Stone cold sober as a matter of fact
I can bitch, I can bitch
`Cause I'm better than you
It's the way that I move
The things that I do
I entertain by picking brains
Sell my soul by dropping names
I don't like those, my God, what's that
Oh it's full of nasty habits when the bitch gets back
-Elton John, The bitch is back
Stormy days, sleepless hellish nights. I think MotherNature is really pissed and is hinting everyone about it. Only a few of us seem to know what she’s up to… Whatever.
The island keeps on being a bad movie with even worst direction. Now the head of Tourism seems to wear “gríngolas” because last night she said that the world has not been impacted by the problems here, that tourism is ok… Hah! It is so ok, that to prove her how things are people of the Teacher’s Federation posted themselves in front of cruises in SJ not allowing tourists out of the cruise, so the whole world would know what is going on here… Talk about stressing a point… the stupid way… The whole world already knows what is going on here. That’s why the Paradores and hotels have been receiving cancellations by the hour. There are many other stops in the Caribbean that are more attractive right now… If you want peace and quiet why would you come here?
And nothing is happening… The images speak for themselves. One thing is passion for a cause, another is stupid clueless passion for the cause of two people, not the commonwealth. Let then kill themselves if they dare, in international tv if they can… so the whole world sees what this island has become, an island ruled by creatures that have proven to be lesser than animals.
There are many stirs in the horizon… The current chaotic ambience blinds people to Mother Nature’s sights… Beware. A nice earthquake may become quite possible any moment, especially with the increased heat… A hurricane can devastate us thanks to the now common practice of destroying mountains to create roads. Mountains protected us, now there is no barrier that keeps the towns safe along the coast. Hotels and houses built over the seashore will experience the waves in a whole new way… It is a matter of months, really… Political clowns are just the beginning of the end. Lovely fate.
Groundel is in finals. He’s got tests the whole week long. Still no water and definitively no light at his place. And now with this whole situation finding a job will be almost futile. Another lovely issue… Well, in lighter themes, Lucinda’s kids are obsessed with him. His fault for being an easy E/C.
Sinking ship for all of us. And the ship includes work and family. People are unbelievable these days… At work no way to climb the corporate ladder. At home family won’t acknowledge that one is actually a grown up, not a 15 year old kid. It is a bit comforting knowing that Coriolis is going through the same thing. Seems that it is the curse of the half-breeds…
Will try finding the parts that the mechanic needs to fix my car. Gotta have them all to go see him on Monday. I hope that Ravy doesn’t come up with any surprises… As it is, the whole paycheck will be for her operations. She’s been a good girl so far, and I’ve mistreated her much, a little pampering is in order.
Trying to put everything together so I have nothing left waiting for my return from vacations… Got many things to do… too little time…

The Rose
Some say love, it is a river
that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger,
an endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower,
and you its only seed.
It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
who cannot seem to give,
and the soul afraid of dyin'
that never learns to live.
When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been to long,
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong,
just remember in the winter
far beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed that with the sun's love
in the spring becomes the rose.

Paro? Qué paro?
This weekend was pretty damn busy. Painted many things for a kindergarten graduation of a friend, both in Sat & Sun. Stupidity of people doesn't cease to amaze me. The island situation is the same, politial games while tripping... Soon someone will blow something, you'll see! Anyway, at work today... actually working... this is a small sanity break. Yay!

Network pranks
I finally solved the mystery of the stray blinking network. A bent cable, with actually broken filaments inside as I discovered after slitting it open, was creating the havoc that kept me with a huge headache from 8am to 3pm. At least today I didn’t forget to have lunch… I was talking to the cable while strangling it… Yes it felt good. Mission accomplished.
The Black Theater of Prague will be here by end of month. I would love to witness the dream, lets see just how much costs the ticket. Also, Popu’s birthday bash is on a weeknight, but I may try to go because it should be vacation time for me… All is subject to the issue of protests and gov closing being solved. I wont risk my car any further.
Got to fix the car for once and for all on the next 15th. If I don’t fix it, then no travel can take place. And a working car is a need, not a commodity. So there goes the constructor payment for this month. Sorry but no car, no work, no payment at all.
Between yesterday and today what was left of my patience is gone. I hope that no further events take place in what is left of the afternoon or night because I pity the fool that stands in front of me if that happens…

Something lighter...
Coriolis had an accident on Friday night. His car was badly damaged as it clashed against a cement barricade. It was almost midnight, and after a long day that began at 5am he fall asleep while driving. Luckily somehow nothing happenned to him. Just his car, Christine, who had a facelift that mimics its intentions towards him...
Lucinda thinking about Louisiana.
Groundel's leg is better. So he's back on track on routine.
Me, I'm not sick... repeat, I'm finally NOT sick. Yes, something wicked is coming this way... ;) Been watching Friends and ST:TNG lately... I had forgotten just how muh I love Picard as captain. Still got the trekkie in me... Wheee!

Prepare your luggage, boricua!
The island keeps on screaming, but the fat leaders are deaf to its message. It doesn’t matter how much EVERYONE emphasizes that colors are NOT important right now, that solutions must be reached… leaders keep on in their red-blue quest for totalitarianism. Who knew that after all our democracy was a façade, as dictatorship seems to be the air we breathe now.
Yesterday it was revealed how our small little crisis has been advertised around the globe. All nations are warning people about this chaotic island, warning against traveling here because we are on the edge of something big. All the movement done by the Dept. of Tourism, all the TV adds showing the world our wonderful natural havens, all the money invested on making people see how internal tourism was a choice, all has gone to hell. I wonder about the effect on Porta del Sol. I wonder on the effect on the proposal of being the Olympic games host for 2010. I wonder on the effect of tourism from Spain, Portugal, China, England, Thailand…tourism that will now select Cuba, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Panama, or any of the small Antilles for their leisure… anything but Puerto Rico. I wonder if the government seriously thought about that effect, as tourism is one of the few things left that brought life to this isle… We have nothing else for survival. We have no crops, no agriculture… Our people are lazy, and won’t bend their backs using a machete. We used to be export kings of sugar and coffee, but that is long past. All we have now is education (and seems that is only for a few people), tourism and political mayhem. And educated people are fleeing to the US mainland because educated people don’t really have a bright future here… It is the sad truth.
This goes from bad to worst. The truckers gave a warning today that if the government doesn’t change in favor of all the people that right now is without a job, that in Friday they will start a general stop. Meaning: Pandemonium when getting gasoline, food and everything else. People are getting more desperate each passing minute, and talking solves nothing… I don’t visualize a happy ending. Just one week of government closure will have a negative impact that will last for years. Everything that is taking place will have a negative impact regardless of the outcome. The tension is high, as we all watch how things get out of hand, police clash with civilians, and leaders keep getting fat. It will all lead to bloodshed. It will all lead to the beginning of a revolution if things keep on as heated as they are. The solution for some of us may be preparing the luggage and getting ready to go anytime soon. There is no point in keeping faith or belief in a land ruled by pigs, whose followers have been zombifyed… I don’t believe that the other side is the promised land of opportunity, but at least there are chances for actually living based on your skills and knowledge and with some stability… Sometimes just having that chance is enough reason after all. Living as we are living, in stress, in distress, in fear, in tension… this is not living at all. I am grateful that my gov agency was one of the few that keeps on working… but if it all keeps this way, the ship will sink as the Titanic, no matter what some of us do…
Me, I am evaluating all the choices lay out in front of me. I have a reason to stay, duty towards my aunt, but that’s it. If that reason didn’t exist, I would have been gone from this cursed isle years ago. My destiny forks either within Tx or within Fl. Alternatives are being explored. I wont wait until it all explodes in my face. I would hate to leave my house and the comfort zone of knowing everything for miles… But there must be a chance for truly living elsewhere. It is the only thing I keep on believing, the only hint of hope.

PR GRITA! and 9-11 memories
I had to spend most of the weekend in bed due to the medicine that my dear doctor prescribed… The only interesting thing that I did was watch the 9-11 special that National Geographic aired.
It lasted for 4 hours, and it covered all events from 1990 to the 9-11 event. Somehow it got to me even more than simply watching the towers going down… I recall that I stayed home that day on sick leave, and I heard something in the radio about a crash. They were urging people to turn on the tv and see what was going on. As I did the second plane appeared and crashed against the other tower. It all looked as if it all was taken from a movie… Although the press tried it best to bring a good coverage, it was more of a fight to get the news first, a cannibalism on one event that simply was and had nothing different to offer but a harsh reality about the consequences of lack of tolerance and hate. The greatest evil deeds in the world has been done in the name of God. Anyway… The documentary was unbiased and focused on facts, and it somehow created more impact in me than the press coverage that they gave it for weeks. Amazing how an idea that took life in the minds of two kids became such a catastrophe. The mind is the strongest and deadliest weapon of them all.
We could think that it all happened years ago, and get laid back under the thought that nothing like that will happen again… But last year’s London bombing was the siren that should keep us awake and alert. Innocents are always the victims, and political agendas give way to terrorism because they create black holes that those who are very wary take advantage of. London’s incident was just months ago… and it is sad that somehow it has been forgotten because it was an incident that didn’t affect us directly. It takes a governor being stubborn and political flags clashing within legislative and executive branches to make people react to something in this little piece of earth within the Caribbean.
And is just that, react… A reaction because money won’t be available to get food, to cover expenses and to indulge themselves a bit… A reaction that doesn’t go beyond that slogan: “Que no jueguen con mis habichuelas”. If that had not happened, the laws about sales tax and the reconstruction of the governmental structure would keep on being ideas that wouldn’t even hit a desk… If this had not happened people would keep on choosing loosers at the election just because of fanatism towards the colors red, blue or green. And the saddest part, besides the fact that this government closing will lead to financial and social chaos, is that on the next elections the colors will keep on ruling people’s votes… because the idea of choosing leaders because of their abilities and genuine interest seems passé in a land that judges everyone by whom they know and bling-bling. It would be refreshing if people actually learned something from this experience…
Yesterday, some bamboos and trees in the small mountain right in front of my house collapsed. They fall reaching the sidewalk, obstructing the path for cars. Where I live there are no other side ways, and the way leads to another urbanization that relies completely on the main way. The thing is, a small traffic jam took place in both sides. People returning home could not pass, and people leaving their homes could not pass. It amused me how people just stared at the bamboos and trees, from inside their cars, and no one would actually get off their cars to move the fallen plants. From the side of people leaving their houses, a group of 3 surfers emerged from their car, which was lost in the traffic jam. The younglings at first just gathered around the trees, staring as trapped Sims that lifted their arms in the air screaming “What now”. Then out of the blue they got a machete and started tearing the trees apart. The firemen that I called finally arrived, just as the younglings cleared half of the way and the people stormed into it passing as if the world was gonna end or something… Even the firemen stared as if not knowing what to do, and one of the younglings suggested tying the trees to cars so they could be moved. And so they did. The youngling surfers had saved the day… because instead of sitting still and wishing they got on their feet and acted… not reacted. That is what makes a real difference. Reacting is shallow, a reflex. Acting involves thought and will and innovation and creativity.
So that’s the problem in this Island of Enchantment… People react. Reflexes do not involve deep thoughts or real solutions. And our leaders only do that… reacting to events, without thinking much of the future ahead of us. Makes me wish some young surfers would take the legislation and actually create laws to solve the crisis in PR… somehow, they have more brains than the actual people warming those seats.
