Them bones, them bones!

...

What can I say? I feel all my bones… I am beyond tired, in desperate need of rest, everything hurts and I just want a bed. Yesterday’s ordeal at the office left me as rubble. I wanted so badly to stay t home and sleep and be lazy all day long… No one would miss me at work… No one really gives much if I show up. Things can be solved from San Juan after all… when they feel like solving them. I ask for tools and equipment and nothing… Writing in detail what is going on and what must be done is worthless. And here they only remember I exist when there is an office move… so I must use my MBA to move stuff around and throw cables… Lovely… After that moment when all computers are setup, everyone goes back to forgetting I exist… And so the story keeps itself within the same loop. Right now I need the benefits, so I will have to suck it up for a bit more… But it’s tiresome, taxing… mentally draining… and it makes me angry.

Whatever… Besides that… Went with Groundel to see Pan's Labyrinth. Nice little flick, entertaining, in your face… Not too surprising, though… I have seen and read everything before… But the tale was well written and well delivered. It just makes me wonder when everyone praised its originality and creativity, and these are things that have been done before. But, I guess it’s just me… the bookworm who has read too much, and whose imagination is too hyperactive. Ravenloft dungeon-mistress after all… there’s no turning back from that! LOL

Groundel also recalled my soon to be b-day, and got me the Korean Barbie (yes, I DO collect Barbies, especially the world ones…). So, gift, standing being made fun of at a local garments store, and entertaining movie night… What else could one want to be contempt? Got home and slept soundly… but seems that I need more rest, I feel trashed… If that is now, I don’t want to imagine in a few months… Ugh!

Zombiefied...

para variar...

Yesterday was a long day, followed by a long night. I was completely sleepless and completely beat at the same time. I had forgotten my insulin was at work and I left it in the office’s fridge… Woke up today with high sugar. Ugh! At work, 10 cubicles were installed and so I had to setup their respective computers and cabling… No comments. I just got a big headache, my blood sugar is still high (and stabilizing it will be a pain in the wohoo as usual…) and I just want a bed… Still, I promised to go to the movies tonight, so I will try to comply… After all, it’s ladies night so it’s cheaper. Hope to arrive home before 9pm so I take a warm bath and go straight to Morpheus arms…

Its not easy being a witch…

Another day, another way... Run, Luke, RUN!

...

What have I been up to? Well… Busy days, as usual. Let’s see…

FRIDAY: No system at work, so stayed until the local monopolic phone company decided to fix the line… Took the afternoon off so I could do some mandatory things like taking Groundel home after his doctor’s appointment, picking up the mage so he could deliver Munchkin’s cash, getting a date for food assistance, getting psyched out about the traffic and the mall, finally getting home AMEN

SATURDAY: Woke up around midday. The mage decided to actually do something about the kitty’s security fence, so while he pondered the mechanics I cooked (Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen… I can cook. I just hate doing so. Any questions?). After lunch went straight to business handling out the instructions for kitty fence, and so the wiring was mostly done. Only the upper parts are left for a next mission perhaps next weekend. The sun came down while we were doing the finishing touches, we had a quick dinner and off we went to FINALLY see 300… Whoa! Poetry in motion! I loved the movie… Yes, very predictable, duh, but the warriors… the fighting scenes… the blood… the form… the eye candy… the atmosphere… the symmetry… Poetry in motion. It was over too fast for my taste, I wanted more… I wanted to see the whole battle after the 300 died… But that should be another story, if so… Loved the way they portrait Spartan women, commanding so much respect and actually doing something else than looking pretty or being helpless. So… After the movie, picked up some meds, did a quick grocery shopping and reached home at midnight.

SUNDAY: Gargoyles morning, watched the whole First Season. Nothing like Goliath to start a day in the right track… Went to Groundel’s place to deliver meds and stayed for a bit having pasta lunch and getting updates. By mid afternoon reached auntie’s place, and got the shocking news that the stupid parakeet that has been living there for eons had layed two eggs… LOL Well, I guess Pancha was quite happy to have me off the house, or something. Watever… Cleaned up the ex-kitty room, walls and everything. Hope to be able to paint the room by Holy Week, thinking of combining yellow and white. Gotta lay out my plush dolls on the current shelves, and try getting thin ones to display the Jem-Xena-Barbie dolls… But that is another project. Cleaned up part of my other bedroom and organized things so at least it looks tidy. Will keep moving stuff to my house later on… By nightfall auntie made some chicken with rice and pasteles (todo el año es Navidad… Tell me about it…), and got a call from the mage… His car would not start up after he delivered Munchkin…(oh, the fateful Russian Roulette, so fun it is to play it… so like stating that the car must have something new to bother each week…) So… Two hours later he finally made it to aunties, we gathered soe stuff into the cars and off we went… Reached home after 9pm, and while Lord of the Rings was in the background we tried putting things in their right places (at least the clothing). By the part where the wraiths get to the Prancing Pony we were already hooked on the movie (yet again) and left everything else for later… The second LOTR movie played, but I realized it was midnight and so off we went to try catching some Z’s… right…

MONDAY: Had an appointment at the food place by 8:15, so the mage left his truck at the electro-mechanic and I went to fill up blanks and papers. The nutritionist was very, very nice, and she fixed all so we would get the aid. So, got the aid, got the goods, went to the lab to pickup some test results… And one result was missing. After making me wait more than an hour, had to take the test again. Ugh! Actually got out of the lab after midday… So I lost the whole morning on these issues… Took the food to Groundel’s den since I would not be able to reach my home before work’s lunchtime was over. Heated up my canned soup, and off I went to work… Had no problems, though I found the server cabinet was open… I figured someone had checked something and later on I was told that someone from the phone company came in to fix something. Coolio. Everything was running smoothly, and I got enough inspiration to actually fill my taxes form, both the long and the short versions… After work went to pickup the groceries, Groundel treated me to some food hunting and after delivering him to his den I went home. Night had already fell, and the rain made it all so cold! I just shot myself with insulin, ate some Cheerios and went off to bed… Must have fallen asleep around seven… Woke up before midnight as I heard the sound of the cistern. The mage had arrived from work, and as he came up I mentioned I had done the taxes at work and suggested he should do his… So I kinda got hooked on taxes (WTF) and so filled up his papers. Realized it was almost 2am, so went to bed again…

TUESDAY: Woke up very early, at 5am, since I had to go get another stupid test at the lab. It’s funny that while I waited, a girl I was mentioning to the mage appeared there… Seems she finished what she started studying and now works at the lab/hospital premises. Cool thing. It is always great to see someone make progress in life, especially knowing all the struggles she has gone through. So… Reached my office, prepared a small breakfast, and energized my fingers long enough to write all this… Wheeeeeeeeee o algo. :P Hope to simply go home to sleep… I feel busted! (No pun intended… Grrrr)

So… The days keep running away REALLY fast… Everything has been on the go, not too much time to think about it just do it. Hope to get to see the Laberynth of Pan before they take it off the movies… The house’s cascade has been in all its glory thanks to so much rain… Hope to fill the floor cracks and to paint it off before my b-day.

FRIENDS: Well, Groundel realized he’s grounded on the isle until he heals because he can have a mayor bloodloss if getting on an airplane… He’s managing things. Finally got to talk and see Raven last week and she seems to be handling things as well. Coriolis has been quite busy playing corporate slave during the weekend, hope he can climb the corporate ladder and in the end screw them all (umm… no pun intended, again…). Kara has been lending some ears (erm… eyes?) and thanks to that I am not as panicked as before… Haven’t seen LS in a few, and Joe in a long time, but I know they are fine (bad news are always the ones that travel fast, so no news mean things are coolio, surviving).

CATS: Set has FINALLY stopped being depressed. He’s even dressing up in a tux and knocking on the door whenever he needs service… Who knew?

ME: Alannis sums it all up… Until next…

I'm broke but I'm happy
I'm poor bue I'm kind
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
I'm high but I'm grounded
I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful baby

What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be fine fine fine
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five

I feel drunk but I'm sober
I'm young and I'm underpaid
I'm tired but I'm working, yeah
I care but I'm restless
I'm here but I'm really gone
I'm wrong and I'm sorry baby

What it all comes down to
is that everything's gonna be quite alright
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other is flicking a cigarette

What is all comes down to
Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving the peace sign

I'm free but I'm focused
I'm green but I'm wise
I'm hard but I'm friendly baby
I'm sad but I'm laughing
I'm brave but I'm chicken shit
I'm sick but I'm pretty baby

What it all boils down to
Is that no one's really got it figured out just yet
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is playing the piano

What it all comes down to my friends
Is that everything's just fine fine fine
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is hailing a taxi cab...

Eeeeeeeeeeeck!!!

...

This week should be short enough, at least at work. Free day on Thursday, may take Friday off as well since Holy Week won’t be a given… I think it’s the first year that they won’t give the complete week at work. It is useless, I mean, clients won’t appear since there will be no classes… but whatever… So I should take this next Friday off, to see what can be completed at the house. If such a thing is possible…

Yesterday I went to Auntie’s to get the diabetic kit that I forgot… just going there and trying to head home took 90 minutes. It is a bad time due to heavy traffic, and that doesn’t help my case… I am always in need of getting home fast… The eating schedule and the tiredness and the people enhancing my panic is too much…

Zordak’s bites became infected and so he had a fever and was feeling quite crappy himself. The antibiotics should do something, Kali was vicious.

Kitties keep opening the drawers as they used to do at the studio… Sheesh… And they keep vocalizing for attention. Hope they adjust soon… Don’t know if they like it or not…

Wrapped up the sofa and loveseat with clear shower liners that we ducktaped. That worked… The slipcovers look great. Need to Febreeze them, though, they have the musky smell of humidity that I hate so much…but they do look good.

Groundel rang last night, but I was too sleepy and tired and beat to answer.

Moody, sad, frustrated… Please close the curtains, I need a break. Thanks.

MAYHEM! CHAOS! KITTIES!

Action!

Thought of the day:
“A first class bitch gets first class treatment.” True story and personal motto.

This weekend went too fast, leaving me tired and sore all over…

Saturday: I really, REALLY didn’t felt like getting out of bed, but after midday and people bugging in the phone, decided to give in to that fate… Went to my house to try preparing the closet… Still in the making… At least two curtains were put in the bedroom, so that made me happy. Moved away from half of the first floor all the furniture that was in the middle and finally got to wash that side. The mage used the hose while I used some Brillo pads to clean the windows (an amazing good idea, the mesh pads are great for little trouble cleaning). Nothing like hosing everything, the downstairs bathroom was left spotless… Finally! Night fell upon us, and we went straigt to auntie’s after giving in to Chinese lunch after 8pm… yes, lunch… We actually had no dinner since it would have had to be prepared at 1am following schedules… And by 9pm we were at auntie’s, in bed... The day beat us up.

Sunday: The cats had to be done… Meaning litter cleanup. Meaning the mage tried his best to ease up the BIG mess that was in the kitty room at auntie’s. The smell of Clorox filled the air… After the mage bagged the dirty sand, I cleaned up the litter boxes getting them ready for travel. The kitties were placed in their respective taxies, and off we went… The mage had the big taxi with the 5 black cats. In my car went the ladies of trouble: Roxy, Kali and Isis. As usual, Isis gave no trouble… but the smell of fear was soon present in the atmosphere. Arriving at Hormigueros I came to realize poor Roxy had a second level accident as Kali had one of the first kind. Mening they would need a bath. Meaning… Prepare for a big adventure of the wild kind… So, we decided to leave that matter for last, as we needed to prepare the new kitty room at our house. Furniture was moved, pillows were cleared, the mage went to get some clean sand while I gave the final touches to the kitty room throwing the twin bed in the floor, setting up litters and taxies, securing windows… I dressed up the bedroom in blue stripes and put up my beloved vampire painting and the Dracula poster. Completed dressing up the bathroom downstairs (of course, with suns and stars… Some things will never change) so at least it looks alive. The mage arrived with the sand and kitties soon went to their own bathrooms becoming visibly released… :P So… We ate up some lunch. and went to the task of bathing Roxy and Kali.

Bad idea. Kali became her feral alter ego, and shredded the mages arms while viciously biting his hands. Since I had to use gloves she couldn’t pick up any familiar scent, and that plus the stress of the travel made her loose it completely. Ended up leaving her inside the taxi while using the hose on it through the taxi’s holes. She went berserk… But it was a necessary evil. Roxy was… milder… Although she tries to escape she respects the voice… So she gives bad looks, menacing with her back legs, but restrains herself from further damage. She was bathed on her own two feet, and dried up with a towel, and lovingly cradled upstairs. Kali stayed in berserk mode for hours… We brought her upstairs so she would see and smell the other kitties and stop being her bitchy self. Had to unlock her from the cage, allowing her to roam the room wetting everything… At least by nighttime, and many hours later, she was back to her normal self being a bit hesitant at first but coming closer after breaking the ice looking for love. At least I felt relieved that she was mild and loving, I thought it would take longer for her… Been there, done that, and that kitty is too stressful due to her traumatic past. But all ended ok… Sort of… The mage has the battle scars as proof of his dedication to duty.

So… After the kitty havoc, kept on arranging things in place. By 8pm decided to stop, took a bath, and watched the first 2 episodes of Xena… Wow… So different from the last season! Always a delight to watch. Went to bed around 10:30pm… A king bed is a definite must, I had no idea how much of a big deal space makes! But the comfy setting was not enough to make me sleep… The alien surrounding and alien sounds and the light coming through the windows cluttered my senses… I must have slept 3 hours… Visited the kitties and they seemed content, so that stress is slowly fading away.

Monday: Got up at 6am so I would have time to do everything at a slow pace, since I have to go downstairs and then back up… and the stairway still gets wet… Getting up early didn’t matter as I took 1 ½ hour to prepare and so left the house at 7:25am… No traffic, until arriving at the Mall… Ugh! It took exactly 25 minutes from there to my job’s parking lot… Thanks to policeman fishies… Arrived just in time at 8:00am. So… This means I have to get up even more early-er… Ugh! Seems it has to be at least 5:45am so I can actually get out of the house by 7:15am sharp, to avoid being late. Lovely…

So, the day is starting, this is Rehabilitation Counselor’s week and everyone dressed up. Luckily my 6th sense told me to dress up as well, so I look good… And if I look good, we all look good, right? LOL At least once I gotta ace it. :D

Friends: No idea, everyone has been missing in action. I guess 300 has taken the best of them all. I hope to finally see it on Friday, maybe at midnight if the mage can make it… Want to see Pan’s Laberinth, perhaps with the fine arts club if they are available during the week… and if I am up to it.

Family: Sister is very excited since she and her hubby have been trying to get pregnant and nothing had happened for years. Seems that this year is jackpot year, o algo. LOL She is quite happy, and that is good. Now all she has to do is take good care because of complications coming with high risk pregnancy especially at early stage. I should know… This is where we show how different we are. I don’t see the point of telling everyone about it until it is something at least 75% certain because of time and it being high risk. Just one month is too early to throw any party, but that is her… and I won’t spoil her fun. Best wishes!!!

Work: Same story, same everything, same bull… But, the show must go on… And it will.

Down with the sickness!

Lookout! :P

Have been down with the sickness… sinus and cold, mind you! The stupid sands from Sahara and the volcanic dust are disintegrating the immune system and the lungs of thousands within the isle! If that is what the cloud is… Somehow something that has never been mentioned until a few years back sounds fishy. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the clouds were in fact an outcome of a government experiment or something, like the shaft dust that helped increase cancer decades ago… Seems that our people have short time memory, or longtime memory loss… You be the judge…

So… Been with an ugly sinus-cold-flu-whatever thinguie. This has been a longaleer week… Couldn’t go to the capital on Monday because the driver never appeared… Went to Caguas on Tuesday and luckily, one of the people I was to meet was who used to be my supervisor a year ago, and she updated me in the whereabouts of the department… Ugh! So many things, I know Betsy must be having a ball up in heaven laughing at everything going on to the people who deserve the lovely taste of karma.

Anyway… Got a call from LightShadow’s contact and he found the complete back door for Ravy in $800 including IVU. Wheeee! So, must wait for it to arrive from Florida, and he will paint and fix the car’s damage. Seems his work will be a matter of $200. Not bad at all! And the guy surprised me with actually being responsible. Thanks, LS! Once again you saved the day! :P

Yesterday I wrote a letter to the director of the region, explaining my need to move from the department to another because I do have an MBA and I need to grow professionally. That’s letter #1. Will Follow some advice and do no talking, just black and white letters. When I have written #3, and if nothing has happened, then I should go to the Union to make things happen. If I must stay within this agency for at least 4 more years (so the mage finishes his BA and I do a Master in Social Work or a Labor Relations PhD), then I must really exhaust myself searching for ways to gain experience supervising… It is all I need to get a juicy job anywhere else.

Yes, I’m still with the dilemma of which road to take: PhD Labor Relations or MS Social Work… I seem inclined to the Social Work thinguie because it involves helping others, a vocation that I enjoy much, and it is a different thing from business… Plus the university offering it is 5 minutes from work. Then I think a PhD will allow me to be a professor at any university, earn easy money with enough time to spare for family and quality of life… The bad think is the university is 30 minutes from work, if there is no car jam… So… I still have not decided… I need to. For the Social Work thinguie I need to take some prerequisite courses and that should be done in summer if I’m getting in that program… I don’t know yet.

And so, it’s Thursday. I feel like crap. I want a comfy bed and lots of goth music, and at least 48 hours of sound sleep. Is that too much to ask?

Weekend Woes

...

What a way to begin the week… I was supposed to attend a meeting at the capital but the transportation guy never appeared… So I waited from 6 to 8am… to no avail. I am quite pissed, tired, and it seems I am also getting the flu… I would just go home and go straight to bed if I was given the alternative… I feel like crap. This weekend was taxing in every way. All the things I expected to do could not be completed.

On Saturday, had an appointment with the nutricionist early in the morning. I guess I still have some shock factor even if I think I look normal… Seems I don’t. Normal me is quite different than professional me, and although the black hair brings some seiousness to my demeanour, the psycho in me always shows up. LOL In the afternoon the cistern was the issue… It was changed for another one, and was put up, and it wouldn’t work. The whole afternoon went away pulled by the frustration and despair of the frickin thing not wanting to work properly… In the end a miracle happened and it seems to work… So… Finally after 3 months, the cistern is up and running. Wheeee o algo. Oh, and the highlight of the day was that we made the lovely discovery of a sewer that looks like Sadako will come crawling out any minute from it… Quite eerie and disturbing…

If Saturday was a bit frustrating, yesterday was the pits. Tried putting up the cats fence in the balcony… At days end, only part of the cats fence was up… Gotta get in a ladder to complete the fence on its highest side, as well as gotta complete the framed fence that Zordak began to put together. Nothing worst than when you are working hard, with your tongue out, and having people watching and doing nothing to help you out. No one goes out of their comfort zone to help, not even a slight remark offering polite words… Nothing. That plus a feeling of being invaded and overruled was simply too much… I was beyond upset. I hope this sort of thing doesn’t repeat itself… I know that my staying quiet was a one hit wonder. I rather be an unpolite bitch than a stupid asswipe that gets stepped over. That’s the problem when you are good… people step all over your rights quite happily. I may be good, but I am not stupid. Sometimes I prefer to avoid open quarrels, but now I know that it will be impossible to do so without having innocent blood taking most of the blames.

Thanks to Groundel for helping even if his foot was bleeding, and to Zordak for being candid even when misunderstood.

Slowdive...

(too slow)...

Still no luck finding the car’s rear door… The quest goes on. Main focus a bit detoured onto the cistern and closing open areas with chicken wire so the cats won’t be able to go away once at home. Blah, blah, blah.

Last night had a friendly gathering at a local fast food. Groundel treated for dinner, and so we summoned LightShadow to complete the trio of renegades. Had a great time laughing off at others expense. Raven and Coriolis were unwilling victims as they called just in the right timing… The highlight of the night was the Prostitutes of the Caribbean starring Johnny Deep. Erm… No further comments about that. .Sinned a bit since we ended up at an ice cream place and I couldn’t settle for the sugar free chocolate thinguie (I’m not crazy about chocolate ice cream, not my favorite) and went for a lemon mousse cheesecake cone. Now that was a delight. Wow, real sugar! LOL Fortunately it had no ill side effects.

At work have been working on the art for a simple site I’m completing for one of the branches… The art came out very nice, I left my eyes on the 15” blurred monitor I’ve been forced to use since my laptop died… All I need now is that they complete all written gaps and make an English version of all the text so I cut & paste. I’m not taking care of that, it is enough I’m taking time to do the site without being part of that work team. Can’t deny that at least someone gives some credit to my talents… since the oh-so-lovely IT department ignores the fact I’m rotting most of the time just because they don’t give me something exciting and challenging to do. After 10+ years of giving end user support, too much stupidity in a continuum is beyond annoying…

At home, auntie bitching as usual… I know she must be desperate for us to move out. I know I am desperate to do so, but it’s been one thing after the other… Hopefully the cistern thinguie will be completed this weekend. We need to move ASAP. I need freedom of speech and movement. Hopefully I won’t get too spooked in the house at nights. That is the only thing that concerns me… The mage arrives almost at midnight, so I’ll be alone in the dark for almost six hours… Hope spiders, roaches, and serpents don’t eat me up by the time he arrives.

Been feeling melancholic, sad, frustrated, angry, powerless, tied up, useless… That happens when you want to do things and you can’t because the plans completely change at your dismay. Whatever. I know the light keeps on at the end of the tunnel… Just, why the tunnel has to be so frickin long!

Back to reality… LOL The phrase of the day… Courtesy of local crappy politicians…

TGIF, Alas!

LOL...

Finally, Friday is here… It has been a bumpy week, with mayor troubles but somehow things are falling in place little by little. Friends are friends again, and then we’ll all live happily ever after… O algo…

Haven’t been at any movie rental in quite a long time… This weekend shall be no exception, it seems already full. The electrician is supposed to go finish things up on Sat morning, then the guy that will do the cistern on Sun morning has to go with the mage on Sat afternoon to get the missing pieces and to lend his truck so we get the fridge, washer and stove… So maybe I’ll have the change to wash up downstairs IF there is water on Sat afternoon, and maybe will be able to paint the forsaken cabinets and install closet tubes on Sun morning while the manly men work… Any volunteers? Cleanup promises to be a bit of a bitch downstairs, everything is dust-loaded.

Must contact the ceiling-fences guy, but since payment for electrician & plumber are due will have to wait until the 15th to see if I can gather the half I owe him so he finishes up his part. Also must try checking more junkers around the isle to see if I can get the fricking back door for my Ravy… And in the middle of it all, trying to actually see if I can develop some wedding pictures so I can try scrapbooking at least the ceremony, since there are 500+ pics for the vacation and I have no way of editing them… I need a computer ASAP… Another addition to the spending woes… With the IRS around the corner that will have to wait after my B-day… Ugh!

Going back to La-la-Land…

CAR WOES

...

So... They will give me only half of what the repairman asked for the car's fix. I need to get the rear door for a Rav4 1998, including window. If anyone knows anyone who might sell it, new or from junker, let me know ASAP...

The lady appeared at the date on the insurance place 1 1/2 hr later... So much for being timely... At least the people there were nice, and work quite fast. Hopefully I should get the money in 48 hours... That's a wow for a gov agency here! After that, need to get a repairman that is good and cheap, and the car's parts... Always special missions... Life is never boring...

At work, half of the people without system due to a power failure that damaged a switch. I'm in a hurry to fix it, but you know how burocracy works...

At home, auntie dearest the same...

Friends... Or so... Groundel being as bitchy as ever. Yesterday he really got me to my limit. He doesn't get the point that I am just trying to help him. His little mind thinks I'm trying to fuck his life just by showing up with my mage... Sheesh! Man, DEAL WITH IT! I have no hidden agendas, and all I have done for you is in your best interest. I'm trying to help, and believe it or not, the mage has also been trying to help because he wants to. So, STOP BEING A CRYBABY!

Coriolis is dying in his bed, getting as skinny as a wet cat... LOL Nah, he's just got a bad throat infection and so been hybernating at his den... Hope you get better!

No news on Raven & the gang, or anyone else as a matter of fact. Everyone quite busy with their own woes...

The mage dealing with a bank deception, old household matters, keeping everyone happy, and dealing with his Mad Phoenix. talk about having your hands full...

Me... Surviving. Trying to get solutions... Keeping my friggin glucose between 100-140 (a big bitch!), dealing with morning sickness and the like... Feeling crappy but, life goes on. My back is at its worst thanks to the accident, lower back and neck hurt like hell... And I definitively WANT a career change... NEED it, WANT it!

Of crashes, stupid people and life

La-la-la...

Thursday at 4:00pm… Minding my own business, arriving just in time to my beloved hometown so I could get to my office and pick up some stuff… I do the unthinkable! I stopped at the red ligt… And this… lady… crashes against my car’s back door. So, breathing in and out I get off the car to check the damages and speak to the lady. She starts arguing that I stopped suddenly and that what the heck was I thinking. Whatever. I just called the police station and so we waited for their arrival. Then the lady starts arguing with the officer about it… How could I dare to stop at the red light? The officer cut her cold and simply said “Lady, I give tickets of $250 to people who don’t stop at red light, $150 to people who accelerate on yellow light, and I only have to look at the cars to know you were not keeping a prudent distance.” Yay! I didn’t have to say much, thank God because I think nothing nice would have come out of it. Coriolis advised me to do a general checkup at the clinic, in case I have new pains later on… My neck-shoulders-back-lowerback conditions are getting worst by the second…So on Friday had to go to ACAA. Got a date for the compulsory insurance and so on Wednesday there will be the next chapter of the drama…

The electrician could not go to finish things on the weekend, and may go on Tuesday morning. The mage spoke with his shadows and the cistern should be up next Sunday… If nothing else happens… Also, hopefully, we can finally take the fridge, washer and stove from their respective destinies…

So, for variety, these last days have been draining both physically and mentally. We just want to get things over so we can finally move out from auntie’s place… She has been kind enough to have both of us there, but her constant meddling and asking and inquiring and nosing is beyond unnerving. We need our own space, heck, I need my own space!

Feeling quite tied up in everything… With both cars broken it all adds up to more financial doom. I hope that the insurance covers my cars expenses because if not I won’t be able to fix the car until Xmas… And I hope the mage’s car stop misbehaving at least for the next five months… What we saved up for the house repairs is gone now… Ugh! What else can we do…

Groundel needs a wheelchair, so that is another story. Looking for wheelchair rentals, o algo. His operation seems ok so far, he was nauseous the first day thanks to the meds and the anesthesia, but seems to be getting better by the hour.

Nothing of further interest in Neverland… In movie-land, here are the two I went to see…

Bridge to Theradipia: Not what I thought it would be, but delightful in a Narnia kind of way. Loved the girl’s drive, hated the ending but it had its purpose. Its like a nice stroll through how imagination should be…

Ghost Rider: Well… it was all about the effects. I know that if Trilogy saw it he must have been pleased with the eye candy… So he looked cool… so what… Hated Cage’s acting (or lack of) and the dialogues sucked badly. Whoever collects the comics won’t like the storyline… Legion was killed off in the most stupid predictable way…

Whispers...

Coffee, and soft rain...

I feel moved to be kinder today, perhaps a lightning bolt hit me during sleep, o algo… I just felt like saying something… about some people… My beloved supporting cast:

ElCalvo: Teacher \mentor \friend \guide \counselor \dreamer \poet \jack-of-all-trades. Who stoically used his skills as decorator and as coordinator, once more. And who decided to make me a heir to the throne, sort of speaks… Someone who has seen the best and the worst of times in my life, and who constantly fills me with enough courage to live on being true to myself first.

Coriolis: The butler \slave \godfather \cakeboy \best-friend \devil’s-advocate. Once again, proving people wrong. The one that is always there, no matter what… Bringing beauty and hope to the darkest of times. The one that believes in me even when I fail to believe in myself. Talamascan?

Groundel: Family \best-friend \companion \partner-in-crime \jester \apprentice. Wherever you go, whatever you do, I am always watching over you. Make me proud. Constant presence that lets me know I am not alone, even when I think I am. A tear, and a smile.

LightShadow: The journalist \photographer \gypsy \catkeeper \beast-tamer \virtuos \wicked \non-conformist-dreamer. Always making every second worth it. Always shedding light and warmth with truthfulness and genuine care.

Raven: Best-friend \godmother \poet \dreamer \archer \thoughtful \warmth \cozyness \creation \endless-spring \endless-child \mother. Twenty one years of friendship… and counting…Perhaps the only one that has known me for so long, and who survived many storms to tell the tales. Seasons change, but your willingness to help and make things better goes on. I know your intentions are always true and good, no matter the outcome.

Popu: The angry-vindictive-one \blunt \jaded \creative entity. Supportive even through cat crisis, always bringing light-hearted ambience and solace.

Kara: Kindred-spirit \inspiration \crative-entity \dreamer \fightress \non-stop-force. Your presence is always acknowledge, for your life inspires and fuels my own life. It is always refreshing to watch a strong woman bloom into further goddesshood. I look at you whenever I am depressed or discouraged, and find answers that re-awakens my inner warrioress.

Gabriel: Young-accolite \kindred-minion \keeper-of-the-faith \inspiration \dreamer \creation \rightfulness \sincerity. The most recent of my acquaintances, a breath of fresh air because of beautiful beliefs and zest for creativity. Still has much to learn from life, but savors every moment life brings. One who walks in beauty and is not afraid of taking anyone else there..

All of you helped in one way or the other, showing what real friends are made of. And I know it is not a matter of just now, but an ongoing daily quest that you all fulfill in your own special ways. You all make life worth living, and although I cannot see you every day be certain that every day you live in warmth within my heart.

Wedding, Honeymoon, Aftermath

Well, it’s been quite a while but yes, I am alive and kicking…. Sort of anyway… I was in a 2-week honeymoon, plus my laptop died on me upon returning home… Seems I am destined to be isolated from cyber-world, but it should not be a permanent break mind you… Missed blogging a-lot. There is no other way to best keep track of daily nuisances and mayor issues… Ok, so second to it is scrapbooking, but that’s about it.

Well… Let’s start the return with a briefing on the drama from days past…

THE WEDDDING DAY

Early in the morning, more likely around 9am, I realized I should go to the bank. Also, I realized that there was a minor item I had not bought… my tiara. So, by 11am I ventured out in search of a nearby bank and a quick tiara fix… By 12:30pm I arrived home even with a chicken that my aunt wanted… Only to find out that (yay!) Groundel and LadyDeath were there, LightShadow was there, Joe arrived soon enough… and there was no light! That was a bit annoying, but since creatures of the dark need little light to prepare themselves the tasks were completed… Of course, there was the drama of auntie screaming at me because I was not helping her get dressed… Um… Like… Hello? I thought I was the bride here? And the two-layered pearl necklace somehow broke as if Cinderella’s sisters had materialized at my side just in time for such a thing… leaving me with a single tier necklace… Whatever… I’ve never liked pearls, so big deal. Overall, my dress had elven sleeves, and the veil had 4 tiers so it looked pretty good. I died my hair raven black the night before, and the effect created a bride of Dracula feel. I thought it was quite lovely. The tiara turned out to complement the attire perfectly.

Waiting for Coriolis to arrive so he would take me to church, the neighbors had to be their nosy selves, and they murmured the obligatory Are you getting married? Gee… I don’t know… I just like prancing around barefeet on a wedding dress so I get a Corpse Bride thrill… Stupid questions by stupid people. Finally, Coriolis arrived just in time and so the quick trip to the church was completed.

Everything was ready… except for the Godmother and one Flowergirl who were missing in action. They arrived just as the priest was telling me that he had to begin. My father and my uncle took me to the altar. I had no idea of who was there because of my blurry vision and the veil. So basically it was a matter of walking along, and then just standing there with my groom… almost as if there was no audience and it was just the priest and both of us. Not bad at all.

The ceremony was quite easygoing and informal. The priest gets us, and had a nice way of delivering thoughts and emotions. I know I laughed a lot. All in all, it was pleasant and to the point. The mage was quite serious and well behaved… and looked quite handsome. His eyes were mesmerizing at all times… Then again, they always are.

Outside, greeting those who came to share the moment with us, I was quite surprised at the ones that did show up. Candy and Carmen and Lulú traveled from far to be there, but the biggest surprise was Gaby. I was really glad that he made it and quite honored to meet him at last. Some moments to recall: Barbara’s trying to wake up the Christ that seemed to be sleeping in the crystal coffin, Mandy’s brushing the priest’s tunic and almost picking up the blessing wand, Paco raiding the altar, my finally realizing the Ave Maria at the end, Groundel and Joe behaving inside the church, LightShadow and LadyDeath photo-tag team, my brother videotaping the ceremony (and his feet), my uncle looking clueless… Erm… Everyone looking clueless… The cake saga… Bubble-wands in the making, Barbie’s refusing to give almonds to Groundel…

We went home to change and wait for my father to call with the place they selected for gathering in Joyuda. I disliked that it was quite far, and that the mage’s family could not make it, but somehow we all played along… I finally got the call after six, and upon arriving to the place we found out that the rest of the crew had already eaten. That really upset me, because even if I know they were hungry so were we, and we were all supposed to eat together because we were to celebrate the wedding… I guess my father and the rest didn’t get that point well. I think it was disrespectful, especially the question about why the godfather and the photographer were with me… Erm… Duh? I wanted Groundel there, and my aunt, and the mage’s family, and my uncle and my closest friends and acquaintances… A reception is made for that but we could not afford one. And a gathering afterwards was to be in replacement of a reception… not as a single-sided family gathering of just siblings… I tried to breathe-in, breathe out. It took me more than half an hour to cool of, I tried to so my father would not feel bad… after all he had done much for me and for the wedding. It just got plain wrong. I should have sticked to the Longhorn plan so I could tell everyone to go there, across the street. The Joyuda imposition was a flop, and I hated it. I know we all felt really bad and left out… It was supposed to be an event for us primarily. But the idea sunk. Do lemonade with lemons? Whatever…

Traveled at night to Coriolis place at Caguas, so we could take the plane next day during the morning. Soon we were on our way to 11 days away from this crappy isle and its crappy dramas… Amen! Que sonido tan triste cuando se acaba…

THE HONEYMOON

Well, the Customs Agency kept many items from the mage’s hand baggage… Upon arriving to Florida it was quite a long wait to get to the car rental place, many people seemed to have the same idea… The way to the hotel was a bit longer due to a small deviation, but we went right on track on time. We had to upgrade the hotel room so we would have a fridge for my insulin… besides that everything went flawlessly. The tickets we ordered from TicketMania were there as they advertise, so it was a worry-free evening. It was quite exciting sorting out the next days in matters of what to do, when and how. So… We decided to go Disney the first 4 days (Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, MGM Studios), then a break, Sea World, Universal, Ripley & Medieval Times, and finish up with Disney again.

Memorable moments:
“Mommy, why she married Mickey?”, a girl at Animal Kingdom
“My most sincere condolences”, the keeper at Haunted Mansion
Lane 40… Where the bus would arrive to pick us up at night… A ghost bus it seemed, as it was always an invisible vessel and the guy on lane 34 ended up hailing us so we would go with him…
Stingray petting at Sea World
Cirque de Soleil’s “La Nouba”. Breathtaking. Amazing. The best attraction/event of the whole honeymoon
Illuminations and Wishes… I’m a sucker for fireworks. Although I still think Illuminations is the best show. Fantasmic was a bit disappointing… has room for improvement
Standing in front of Everest… being really really REALLY pissed about it
Morocco strikes back, this time with a lovely expensive menu from Hell…
Nothing like an eggroll to fix the day
Anyone up for I-Hop? Don’t forget the strawberries… and its syrup…
Waffle House. Never ask for a ham and cheese sandwich. They will look at you as if you were from another planet because, heck, no one asks for that in there! No matter if the sandwich is in the menu list…
Shrunken heads at Ripley’s
Shamu… Calling almighty Shamu with a stupid tribal sign, and then calling with a war roar that would be difficult to hear under water
Loved the manatees at Sea World
Finally finding a place to eat healthy at Magic Kingdom…
The Festival of the Lion King rocked!
Finally finding the Minnie veil and Mickey top hat at MGM
Getting freebies at MGM… Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Oh, the 20% discount given by a lovely girl at Universal, completely surpassing Disney in matters of celebrating newlyweds
The food at Medieval Times. Chicken! Good!
Getting healthy snacks at Publix for half the price that we pay in our lovely island
NOW HIRING everywhere! Casting right now at Disney, too…
Veggie Burger… Two slices of bread and veggieburger… no lettuce, no tomato, no onion, no nothing… Plain vanilla, and for a higher price…
Once again ditched Beetlejuice, but got a date with ET
Star Wars reminiscing

Back into the plane, back into the heat and the Caribbean beat… and the cursing, and the traffic, and the un-politeness… Coriolis went to pick us up at the airport, took us to lovely Catalina mall where the Mesón has no potatoes… And after a small chatting session we finally picked up Ravy and went home to the land of the lost… We had to stay at auntie’s place since the basics at the house are not finished… Light guy has not gone to finish up, and cistern guy has not gone either… Ugh!

THE AFTERMATH

During the weekend we thanked LightShadow and her lovely assistant Groundel for taking care of my 8 children while I was gone… More than care, loving care. So refreshing to actually have responsible people doing what they said they would… Yay! Now the kitties keep looking at the window, waiting for LS… Sheesh!
The mage started work yesterday, I started today. Missed the nutritionist appointment today but got a new one so no harm done. My sugar is somehow behaving too nicely, amazingly… The laptop will go to its funeral to San Juan, so I will be stuck with working hours lunchtime to do some general stuff on the net… Whatever.

Groundel will have his skin wrap on Thursday. Wishing him success! It is an ambulatory operation, and if he takes care will not be of intensive care. I’m glad that will be done soon enough. I worry too much, but hey, it is my job…

So… Busy days that run as fast as water in the Niagara falls… And still, much more to come… Next, on Geraldo!

A briefing of a looooooogaleer week...

and then some...

Ok… So now we are getting on a time warp zone or something… Last weekend both Saturday and Sunday were spent moving furniture from a donator’s home to my house. Thanks to that, now I am relatively stress free in terms of not having and empty house and in terms of it being more liveable… with potential for greatness. It will take time to refurbish the antiques and create some pillows and window treatments to match, so the living room, the fireplace room, and the dining room will seem pieces of the same jigsaw and be flawless… The kitchen will be a WiP that I shall address somewhere in 2 to 3 years. Right now… Main concerns are light and cistern… Need light to put the cistern to work. After that, the bathroom upstairs will need a revamp to make it usable. Followed by the one downstairs. Seems that I will get an A/C in place for the one I gave granny, so the main bedroom will enjoy that bliss. Also, got a king bed, a much needed donation. The family room will be no problem at all… gotta get the plastic covers and put everything in place. For now the functional kitchen will be upstairs… Everything getting a rightful place. Wheeeeee, o algo. The Big Orc and the Mage did a splendid job moving heavy stuff around, sweating like manly men…

Wedding stuff… Yesterday was “Getting the paperwork done and legal” day… Getting the papers at the government’s office, getting tested at the lab, finding LadyDoc to sign papers, back to the demographic register to get the License, and now we just need to give the papers to Father Edwin so the task is completed.. Just 8 more days until doomsday… And it all is going fast and certain. We didn’t expect a house that would actually have a place to sleep… or a honeymoon… And somehow, Someone has allowed these blessings to happen. Expect the unexpected… A rule of thumb. It all had to happen with the right match. Flawless magic, flawless deserved victory.

Went to see a nutrition lady on Tuesday. She wants me in a 1,900 calories diet… Just before a honeymoon… Like I will think of carrots and tomatoes when at Monster’s Café… Geesh! The woman is psycho and very military-like… Why I keep meeting these cartoonish characters? Anyway… she expects me to test my blood sugar 6 times a day. No problem if I had strips and lancets for free. Seems doctors don’t really pay attention when you say you cannot afford this stuff… Either that or they assume you will get loads of it because rich mommy or daddy will pay… O algo. Sadly I pay everything myself. No comments… The mage took care of that with the magic of his cards… At least he reinforces that it is a necessary evil…

In the middle of it all, I started having a fever on Wednesday night… and it went through the whole day yesterday. Went to bed at 4:00pm… Night was the same… High fever and coughing and not being able to take anything but acetaminophen and put an ice bag in my forehead. The fever broke this morning at 6something… So I gathered what was left of my strength to come to work. This cold is already taxing me, and feels like the fever will come back anytime soon… If it does, I’m out of here. I need a bed and just to lay on it. Big headache, big body ache, sore throat… Damn the flu season! This is bad timing for getting sick… I still have too much to do… I guess a visit to ER is in schedule, para variar… I just don’t seem to be able to get away from hospitals…

Groundel got out of the hospital on Tuesday’s afternoon (Wheeeeeeeeeee o algo). Seems to be doing better, but that one is another one who is out of needles, strips and lancets. The diabetic curse…

Coriolis has a wedding tomorrow, and will be the Godfather. Up, this is the year of the Godfather for him. LOL Oh well… Hope he can make it over here on Sunday, we need to straighten out the cake stuff once and for all.

Raven been very helpful with everything that has been going on. If it were not for her I would be completely medically impaired. Thanks a lot for everything you do, in and outside office hours. I know you have a busy schedule all the time, and I appreciate everything you do.

Same goes for LadyDoc. She doesn’t have to be so nice, but she is. And both the mage and I appreciate it a bunch.

As for close encounters of the seventh kind… I get reassured of the reasons why I dislike most of my family and why I rather stay away from them all. So I am a big-mouth, foul-mouth, whatever-mouth for them all… What is new? I say the truth to whomever, wherever, and I always have proof to stand by it. So I am fearless. Men can be fearless, but when a woman is fearless she gets banned as an opinionated bitch that curses too much and that has no reason to be so rabid… I have never cared about everyone else, but it bothers that my aunt takes sides with the enemies. Of all the people she should know my reasons to act and behave, and she knows that I do have plenty of etiquette when I want to.

Such a big issue about invitations! Geesh, people, lighten up! The ones that have not been delivered yet I have not been able to deliver because… ding, ding, ding! No time! Being sick and doing everything else is more than a bitch! Especially with my condition! So, please, BEAR WITH ME and stop whining so much!

So… Its Friday. Can’t go to Aguadilla, can’t drive so far today. Gotta run home, and huddle in my nest, and hope that whatever I have goes away so I can actually do what must be done this next weekend…

Pieces... Bits...

And more pieces...

Groundel back at the hospital ever since last week... Lovely hybernation... A complete package including 3 daily meals and nurses poking him. LOL Well, not all is so happy. His half-foot got an infection, so he's been getting intravenose meds but they were not enough... So, he had a minor surgery today. Back from the ER, seems fine... In room 206 at Perea Hospital, still no phone connected but you may drop by to make time less evident in that tiny rathole.

Me, 16 1/2 days until doomsday. LOL And so I guess the countdown begins! Found out a place with lovely yummy cakes that Coriolis can afford, so he should be happy-er. Not that he doesn't seem happy already... Guess who's getting the bridal flowers from the bride? By an exponential of two? LOL Who knows... Everything simple and to the point, NO reception. We will go to Longhorn after the ceremony and after saying goodbye to guests in general. Whoever who wants to spend a bit more time with us is welcome at the restaurant (each pay their own expenses, mind you! The mage and the witch are broke, so bear with us!). Anyway... Thanks to the witch's father there WILL be a honeymoon... YAY!!!! Almost two weeks away from the reality bites of this cursed island of madness... Now THAT's the real treat!

Invitations FINALLY arrived and have been sending them this week... Expect them by next week, though... I have so much faith in the postal system... Just in case it doesn't arriveon time (or in case it gets stuck in the Twilight Zone) I'll scan and post it here, soon enough. Not now. Too tired, with too many things to do... I'll get home straight to bed, that much is certain.

Was in Aguadilla today. Tomorrow I will only be in my office during the morning. And the weekend is already full... And soon enough we will salute the Three Kings again!

Sheesh...

Newsflash

... o algo

WORK
Well, back into the rat race... Nothing different just some changes in supervisors for some people... No changes that affect me. Inconsequential... I know I must go away from this soon to be Republic to actually have a decent job and a decent life. If I killed myself studying it wasn't to be this painting in a wall that everyone ignores! Out of patience... Wish the right opportunity would appear for me to move on, and leave this forsaken place.

HOME
Will try moving some necessary evils during the week and in next weekend. Gotta put together at least the second floor... So at least SOMETHING can be called a decent home... I know, home is where the heart is, but a little pampering is always a must!

FRIENDS
Small and brief appearances, but at least they have been constructive. Wish they could be around more frequently, miss them all a lot. But, life goes on...

WEDDING
El Calvo finding out quotes, Raven with some solutions, Keeper almost done with the dresses, just gotta figure out about the aftermath of the ceremony and if there can be a small getaway.

Busy bee, as usual... Many things going on, much stress... And thankful for all the help I'm getting.

A new year unfolds...

for better or for worst...

It’s been a while, but not because of lack of inspiration… Lack of time, lack of energy… Well, maybe… Since right now a party is in all its glory at the house next door, here I am! For your pleasure… LOL

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Yeah, I kinda missed saying that… It was on that week that granny was taken to the hospital because of a pain and now is a terminal cancer patient… Still there, now in a room all by herself… Can’t get up and won’t accept being wired so… Waiting for the Reaper to finally release her…

What a way to begin the year… Bitter-sweet… Been trying to prime the house. Groundel was of help, but there is much to be done and I only have two hands… At least he kept me company. The toll for overworking myself for almost 3 days was two days of complete shutdown… And then some…

Attending church celebrations: The night before Xmas, New Years Eve, and today at 10am will be the Three Kings Day celebration… It has not been a sacrifice, I love how the priest gives mass. And he seems very fond of the mage and me. In the end, we got the wedding when we wanted it: February. The mage cannot get his Confirmation in a while, so no sense waiting so long, and the priest agreed on that. Yay!

So… The Last Official Wedding Date: February 3, 2007. At 2:30pm in the Our Lady of Fátima church, in my hometown. We don’t expect much commotion, we both have only a handful of friends… But we do expect to be surrounded by all who in one way or another have touched our lives forever. So, if you feel compelled to join us, you are very much welcomed. We will have a small gathering when the ceremony is over in the surrounding areas of the church, most likely the kiosk. Invitations should be sent after the 15th of January.

WEDDING PARTY:
Maid of Honor: Raven
Godfather: Coriolis
Bridesmaids: Cindy & Melo
Flowergirl: Mandy
Ringbearer: Barbie
Coordinator: El Calvo
Brought to you by Kymill the Bard’s Productions

I hope that Groundel can join us as well… I know it all is hard on him, but I also know if he doesn’t go he will regret missing his best friend’s wedding. And he knows that he’s family to me. Always.

New Year brought many new surprises… With it, I began taking shots of insulin. Seems to control my diabetes much better… Still draw blood each time I do it… Hate needles! Was on ER two days ago due to an infection that almost got to my kidneys, but that is under control, amen to that.

Bought a 600 gallons cistern thanks to daddy’s funding. The mage got the pieces needed and hopefully it will be setup next week. At least that headache is vanishing a little…

Found El Calvo at home, and he agreed to help with the wedding decoration and details… within some medieval touches. A big weight lifted off my shoulders. I was flipping with what must be done… As usual, his guidance and direction, and certainty makes me breathe and smile. The mage’s mom will take care of some food, with some contributions of auntie… And of course, Coriolis sweet contribution too. So, the plan is coming together! Who knew!

Happily Never After: Cool cartoons, sucky to watch in Spanish… But at least it was fun. Loved the stepmom…

Night at the Museum: WOW! I was surprised… A GOOD MOVIE!!! Entertaining, hilarious, witty, funny, sexless, cute, filled with action and with enough drama… Gotta love the President and the cowboy-romanboy affair! GO SEE IT!!!

The music at the neighbor’s home is louder by the minute… sleep is overrated… Ugh! But I know… The little people must have fun too… Sheesh! Gotta find some sleep…

Back from the grave?

So this is Xmas…

What can I say… These days have been filled with so much contradiction. Everything being so bitter-sweet, everything being a mix of it all. Family behaving as the strangers they are… Friends teleporting every now and then… My dearest being his lovely self all the time… But somehow, deep inside, something seems so sad about it all… The puzzle is never truly completed… There is always something there to remind me…

Mother and auntie are quite disrupted since granny was taken to the hospital two days before Xmas. She had to stay there in intensive care. Her operation was performed yesterday, and took from 5pm to 8pm. The way that modern science try to elongate the inevitable is amazingly pointless… From what people that visited her today said, she was quite happy with everyone, talking a lot… She seemed to be doing better. As I arrived at 7pm, my aunt was in tears because my mother had told her that the doctors just said that granny is in a coma and that all they can do is give her medication to ease the pain… And that’s it. They found a tumor that evidently is malign… She already had cancer in her ovaries thanks to which all her reproductive system had been cast out, and obviously tht wasn’t enough. There was never proper care. Granny did all she could under the circumstances, most of the time not eating at all and expecting medicines to work wonders on an empty stomach. Can’t say that her children took any care whatsoever to make her well. Her son only appeared and called to get the little cents she had… Her daughter couldn’t care less… No food, no paying attention to her complaints, no time… So granny lived the life of a ghost, being remembered only when and if needed.

I cannot say that it all has been different with me. As I already said, my family is synonym of perfect strangers… I can only feel for two people who have always been there showing me unconditionality: my aunt and my uncle. And believe me, their way of showing their love is very hectic… and quite aloof. I am not emotional with whom is in no way attached to me. I may be emphatic… but some people have done so many things along the way that you cannot help but think why should you be compassionate. It is human to wonder such things in such a raw way… and wrong. Our Lord wants us to forgive and forget, and do unto others as you want others to do unto you. And we should cultivate a selfless spirit, being humane and just and fair… It is so hard to follow such teachings when you already have a perception that is backed up with truth… All I can do then is trying to stay neutral… And then I seem so emotionless. No. I just prepare myself to react being a problem solver because I know that things will come in such a way that everyone else will be lost in momentary emotions and noone will be able to actually think or make decisions. The story of my life… I bet my aunt thinks that just because I simply took a bath and locked myself up in my bedroom I am completely ignoring the situation about granny. She must be thinking of all the mistakes she made while raising me, because she created such a monster completely devoid of feelings… Someone who doesn’t follow the expected traditional “ay bandito” talk. I may feel my heart in a knot, but what else can I do… I lament the whole situation. I lament that the people that seem to be concerned are the ones that only wanted to get money from her… My cousin and his wife, my uncle from Florida, even my mother… All of them close to granny on a day by day basis… allof them taking her lifeforce and then showing the world such deep concern… Hypocrites. And they shall be remembered as the ones who cared… I wish it would be so. My belief is so tarnished thanks to so many reality checls…

And so, granny lays in bed waiting for science to give up and for the Reaper to finally take her to a better world. It moves me… But I think that the way she lives in this world is not truly living. Being enclosed in a bubble… erm, house… 24/7… No distractions, no human touch, no purpose… Is that better than being in a coffin? Seeing the cruelty layed on her husband, whose daughter put on a human shelter… erm, elder house… Seeing reality as her own daughter wouldn’t spend time with her for any reason… Seeing the news everyday, a world that is darker by the second, hopeless by a thought… I wonder if love ever reached that heart. I wonder if only once love filled a moment, an action, a smile… because everything I’ve seen is that they all reacted to get something… None of them ever did something out of selfless care. I wonder if she married my grandfather because of an illusion, or because of status. I wonder if she had her children out of true desire or simply because she had to fill the role that society imposses on married women… I wonder if there have ever been a hug just because, a kiss just because, a reching out just because… I wonder so many things… And it all saddens me. This material world that we all try so hard to survive in… how worthless it is! How empty and filthy and shallow and careless it is! And how come so many live their lives to get it all, and they do get it all… and then they find out they may have everything, but nothing can buy a warm hug, a sincere smile, the sweetness of true love…

For whom the bell tolls… Soon, it tolls for all of us soon enough. In the meanwhile, the dreaded silence, the long hours, the wait… The question is: What are you going to do with the time that you’ve cheated from Death? What are you going to do to really live?

So this is Xmas…

Friday: The Xmas gathering at midday at work SUCKED. And I was driven with a strong desire to simply go away from the place… I took the afternoon off, with the aid of my mage I took my small tree and the door garland and placed them in my car. Went to take auntie to the bank, to the grocery place… And then back home I finished putting up lights and stuff. Just as I was going to bed Groundel called, but I sticked with my plan… I was too tired, and wanted to sleep some because the mage wanted to go to the movies at midnight. So… I woke up to my mage’s tune. He arrived a bit later than I expected, and I knew that we would not make it… He had gone to his den to change and make himself ravishing… but the price was missing the movie… Oh, well… He decided to take us to Rincon, and we went there… Nothing to see, all was bad… I guess it was one of those days in which you really want to go out but there is absolutely nowhere to go. Ended up gathering provisions and crashing browsing the net… Cést la vie!

Saturday: Awakened by Michael, who asked if I was gonna do the mission… Oh, yes, I am… but why wake me up before midday, damnit! Well… Went to take Groundel and his stuff back to Lady Death’s den. Big fight because he doesn’t get he has to slow down a bit in life because of his foot… which is not cured completely. In the end, got wet twice (thought I would get sick) and left him at the mall because he was gonna meet some friends… I kept his necessary stuff (bandages & gifts) and tried to calm myself after such a bad tide… So many things to do, so said my list… I was quite upset because of all the people in the street… the rain… situations… The mage took me around, first to eat, then to make sure things were fine, then to wonder why I torture myself so much… then to take me away from this place… and so we ended up in Aguadilla. Nothing deep, just walked around and then we came back… Admiring the few lights that were lit this year… I was quite tired, feeling quite crappy, convinced I was sick… so went home early, and quite sad.

Sunday: Laundry… Gathering stuff to sell… The usual. Auntie told me about granny’s operation due on Tuesday. It all seemed a normal procedure so I really didn’t worry much… Went by the mages den before nightfall. Munchkin already was flapping around her new Dora plush doll, seems Santa was a bit early that day… Munchkin’s mom being in bitchy mode leading to mage being upset. Since it was the night before Xmas, church offers the Rooster Mass LOL So… Went to Groundel’s place to give him his bandages and things he bought the day before. Invited him to accompany us, and he was bored enough to say yes. Lady Death also went with us, after a mandatory change of attire (from sultry vixen to village virgin… Who knew? LMFAO!!!) The church didn’t crumble down at Groundel’s arrival. The mage was still upset, but the happy place and the drama evolving made the night interesting enough for him to dismiss his woes. From the moment I sat, I spotted a woman and an old guy and I told the mage “That is my mother”. He said nah… I mentioned the same to Groundel and he satarted ducking “Your mother! Where? Where!” LOL… Communion showed the mage that I was right… And the hilarious thing was that I was so concerned and it was actually my mother who looked at us as if we were ghosts or the four riders of the Apocalypse… Anyway… The priest never ceases to surprise us, this time he added FX to the ceremony. Everything was planned so as he blessed the altar, all Xmas lights would come up in the church and figures would move. That was lovely! Father Edwin is white and nerdy and proud of it. Yup, he’s one of us. :) As mass finished, there was the long line to kiss baby Jesus, and so we passed by my mother whom I saluted, followed by the mage and LadyDeath. I savored the moment saying “Oh, and over there in that corner is Groundel”… LOL So I sent the minion of Discord to him… I know he just loved that. They were giving asopao and juice outside church, but it was after midnight and we were all tired, so we went away fast. Delivered Groundel and Lady Death (hope that they both had a good time… in a way, this was a special silent night, Holy night). Stayed at the mage’s den for some food and went home… Of course I invited him over. So, as we arrived (and I was disappointed that auntie was sleeping) I turned on all lights and gave the mage Santa’s delivery. We stayed outside talking a lot until it was just too cold for me to bear it. And so, he vanished in the mists… Don’t you just love magic?

Monday: Woke up around midday. Fuss about mommy coming with her friend to eat at auntie’s, so I simply had breakfast and flew away to the mage’s den… with Xena Season 2 in my hands… Watched some episodes, went to get Groundel to take him to Michael’s house so he would get his insulina and in the way he got dinner for all. The mage and Michael seemed to get along well. After nightfall, we all went away… delivered Groundel and back to the mage;s den for more Xena mayhem. Yay! There were chapters that I actually have never seen… Who knew?

Tuesday: First thing in the morning went to take the mage in a paying bills spree. Afterwards found some gifts for some special kids, and went to pick Groundel so we would visit Raven and her children. Spent the afternoon over there, Groundel being quite busy putting together the raft of the lost boys from Neverland. Time went fast, Groundel invited a hearthy fishy dinner, and then I delivered the half orc into Michael’s realm of cards so I could go home to navigate ebay. Found some needful goodies after a long search, as well as the right inspiration for some garments. The mage’s mom will take care of actually making them, soon enough. And so, the mage appeared and the witching hour took us further into the lands of ebay… LOL I was falling asleep, so he left… to keep on with a quest…

Wednesday: The mage sent me a message, he found the missing place where the keepers of the rings lay. Yay! That quest is almost over… Picked up Groundel to go paint some at my house. Spent the whole afternoon priming walls… By nightfall I was too beat. Delivered Groundel, met Raven.. Came home, to find the ghastly news about granny… And so, I’m waiting for the mage to teleport and hold me tight. No news… Clock keeps ticking… I’m tired and sleepy. Life goes on…

Thursday: What's up for tomorrow? Need to go to the lab when I wake up, at 10am must go with the mage and his mom to get the stuff for the wedding, need to take auntie to see granny at 1pm, need to take Groundel to the mall in search for a shoe after 2pm… I foresee a long stressful day full of drama… Whatever. Everything in its right place, as God wills.

2006 has been a year of deep changes, bitter battles, high achievements and mournful losses. It marked my life forever, in every way. May 2007 be more merciful and kind…

Just 4 more hours...

until Xmas break...

Yes, today is the last day at work before the Xmas closing. We will be off until Jan9 thanks to all the Holiday celebrations we have in this forsaken isle: Xmas day on the 25th, New Year, Three Kings Day on the 6th and to top the cake with icing it will be a local holiday on the 8th thanks to the birth of Eugenio María de Hostos. Of course, the party goes on with the octavitas after 3 Kings Day, but that is another story... Gee, I wonder where the reputation of 'ricans being party animals come from... Capital of rum and high rating on vices... Gotta be sooooo proud of this little isle's party outlook...

Me, I'm taking two garbage bags so I fill it up with the little Xmas tree I put up in my office and the round garland in the door. No, ain't gonna dispose of them, I actually put them to celebrate Jesus birth (gee, what an innovative idea in such a commercialized land!)... I'll take them to auntie's home, in case I have no time to put the big tree over there. My little one is classy, colorful and lovely and so, it deserves to have two more weeks of life. Wheeeeeee, o algo.

Yesterday was the administrative side lunch at Franco. The food was selected for us, and we had to pay almost 8 dollars... for food that to my understanding was not so great. And yes I have eaten at better places, for the record, since it seems people believe I have been a cheap ass all my life. Ever since I was little my uncle took me and my aunt to expensive restaurants, so yes I know about good food... And those were the times of quality and quantity at heavenly prices. These days things you get for 8 dollars are quite crappy... I rather have two chicken crisps and a yogurt at our favorite's red haired lassie's fastfood. With 3 dollars I kill the one who attacks without mercy and I don't stay hungry. I dislike spending so much in food when there are other needs... I dislike how people use these gatherings as masquerades to see who is better than who... But that's me.

Today is the whole Administration and Services lunch, courtesy of the bosses. It will be here in our conference and will be the usual thing... Pork ham, rice and gandures, tembleque and a refreshment... Maybe some typical music... Maybe some games... The mandatory gift exchange (which I decided not to participate as last year, since the first 3 years I actually got no gift). Will try taking the afternoon off since dear auntie wants to celebrate her weekly ritual of bank-grocery today... at evening... a friday on Xmas weekend... Ugh! Double take of ugh for me!

So... Have some plans with the mage tonight and may have some necessary things to do tomorrow... If any of you kiddies need me call me up. And naughty or nice, I am a 3 Kings Day gift giver, so expect only good wishes on the 25th. LOL Yes, I kinda like supporting our true root traditions... Sadly, almost no one else do.

Don't let the Old Red Fat Guy bite you!

Up and down...

round and round...

Today… A rollercoaster of emotions and feelings… Happyness thanks to my mage’s messages, and outrage thanks to all situations at work… which simply translate to nothing… translating again to staleness, immobility, been tied up inside a car’s trunk waiting for someone to throw the car in the deeper end of the sea… Those who don’t expect much of life get what they want. Since I expect everything of life, and work towards it, I get nothing. And the worst thing you can do to someone who has so much desire to do things is to simply push her inside a dark room and forget she exists. Nothing more to expect in here, nothing else to look forward to. Frustration turned into a hopelessness filled with anger… because no matter what I do or how well I do things, no matter how much one surpasses the norm… one cannot grow.

So I want to leave… And just yesterday an industry layoff 800 people in Cabo Rojo… Industries keep closing. Talented people with BAs and MBAs keep getting off the island to search better luck in Uncle Sam’s territory… What is to become of this society where people are mostly uninterested in progress, where the government keep allowing industries to go away thanks to lack of incentives and stupid useless taxes that in the end are not used for the island’s sake… where younglings keep killing themselves off because of drugs… where the good die alone and in misery, and the bad rule and take all the money and laughs in your face… I can’t stay with crossed arms doing nothing, witnessing insanity and recklessness… Am I to become another statistic of the ones that choose to leave this place because the shit stinks too much? Am I to go and never turn back, because the first to turn their backs to me where family and friends and then government and hypocrites?

This is a land of unsurpassed beauty, and as every Eden there is a curse… Humans… Damn humans that get some luck and want more and more at the expense of anything and anyone, and who will stop at nothing to accomplish those means. Our leaders direct blind sheep that only care about 3 reasons of weight: red, green and blue. Any portorro knows the meaning of these colors… hallowed birds that forecast the end of reason and the doom of progress and equity. Political divisions divide my land in an irreparable way. It is the way that keeps the dumb even dumber, that gives a razzle dazzle to make people believe that leaders are working for the people while masquerading their thefts…And even if they are unmasked, actions mean nothing… colors are the only reason for validation, for power… Colors! No matter the education… no matter the insight… Just colors…

I am fed up with all this. Working in government has left q bitter taste in my mouth… It has been a time where I have rot in an office and where people have confined me to alienation because I actually look forward to earning a living doing the unthinkable… actually working. Frustrated… Angry… Bitter… Merry Xmas to me.

Take work away from me, and then you take away my woes. Personal life is blissfully surreal… Finally that jigsaw puzzle has been solved… The mage cast a powerful spell when he came back from the lands of mists… The soundness and certainty of it all is the greatest gift I could have wished for… If all this has been possible, then something can be done about work… I know that everything has been falling in place, little by little. Time has been diligent and swift and very kind. I ask only for the piece that could make everything perfect… I believe it can be so. I hope it doesn’t take me away from my homeland… But I am realistic in my thoughts and things are going from bad to worst in this Island of Paradise… Let the best option come to me as everything else has… I believe, miracles happen all the time in the most unexpected ways...

So… Sad but happy but hysterical but mad… Oh yes, always the mad witch.
